Even when playing organized sports, I've never slapped another man on the ass, so I'll pass on that one. :snicker:

Watching Bura's hot streak it had occurred to me as well that GMGM thinks he's finally got it, even though we all know Bura doesn't know what "it" is.

The team was on fire in San José, gotta wonder where that's been all season, but as long as they keep it up its the right time of year for it. This team still needs help on Dfence though. Quality help too, not another Shitpants trade, and not a rental.

LOL Alta!
Believe it or not, I actually borrowed that expression from a bottle of hot sauce, that I saw while in one of those Spice and Sauce stores!
Yes, it’s brand name is actually “Smack my ass and call me Sally”!  There were other good ones also!
“Woman Scorned”
“Butt Welder”
Just to name a few...LOL

Hey Mick!
I do like the Bura/Orlov trade idea! That would be my wish list trade!
2 things I see working against it, though.

Rush

Oh, it's most definitely a Caps friendly/fantasy trade idea.. lol

there's been a few other interesting trades, Lovejoy to Dallas, Matt Duchene to Columpass....

Happy Trade Deadline Day

First one: Nyquist to San Jose

His NTC made it tricky, but Holland still got two picks for him.  This rebuild is fun as hell witness!  Moving good young tradable players to make room for their several great prospects, and collecting draft picks for (reliable rumours say), The Captain to take over next year.

Even if you don’t like em, this fun to watch!!

Are we done do you think?  With player swapping, I mean.

Would love to see Burka gone.  He is dead weight.  Worse than dead weight.  He is not just a non factor, he is a negative factor.  He is SO SOFT on the puck.  Even if his O skills would wake up, he still just a breakaway lone gun kind of asset.  He just can't hold on to the puck when ANY pressure is on him.  His board battles are ridiculous.  I would rather see Hagelin on the 3rd line and Burka gone.  We have several guys I would rather see on the 3/4 lines than Burky.  Jaskin, hell even DSP is a better 4th line guy than Burky.  I'd take any of Jaskin, Dowd, Stepho, Boyd, before Burka.  With Hagelin's speed, I'd move him to line 3  (he IS a LW) and have Jaskin/Dowd/Boyd/Stephenson on line four.  Or if you want, move Boyd or Stepho up to Line 3 and leave Hagelin on 4th line. but I'd like to see him on the 3rd line.  I think Boyd/Dowd/Jaskin is a decent 4th line.  Swap Boyd/Dowd at C if you like....or swap out Stepho, but I'm okay with any of them

IF Hagelin was brought in specifically to replace Burky, and we have plans to actually move him, then extra BRAVO to GMBM.

I realize his trade value is nothing, but he is a waste of a roster spot on the 3/4 lines.  Total waste.
Ship him off to a team that really needs a sniper and could utilize him, and get a draft pick back or bag of old pucks or something.  (small bag of old pucks)  :snicker:

My only other thought is the Caps are holding onto Burka just to keep him out of the hands of an opponent for the playoffs.

FFS - HIT HIM!!!

The main target has been mentioned would be MoJo (who would be a massive upgrade to Bura, like I said before we traded him),  The issue is not only his price going up (way more than the 3rd GMBetaMale got for him), but cluster fuck our salary cap is in, (Mojo makes 1 and chance more).

Another is Simmons, but I don’t see Philly taking Bura for him.

McQuaid is the one I’ve wanted for a while, but he isn’t the type of player Monumental likes

Brassard, (though I’d prefer Shehann), would also be a good move for Bura.  He’s awesome on faceoffs  and could move Eller or Kuzy out to LW/RW and fortify the PK

Sorry, anyone who thinks we don’t need help at center other than Nick, Dowd, and Boyd. . . We’re last in the NHL in faceoffs, a pathetic PK, and TJ Oshie is taking faceoffs too.  Whatever stats Kuzy and Keller get, it ain’t enough to make up for that

Its 3:10 and I see no mention of the Caps picking up someone, anyone that would be an improvement at the faceoff dot

Jim Rutherford traded for Gudbranson from Vancouver - Tom Wilson has to be in the back of Rutherford's mind.   Gudbranson is one tough hombre.  Impressive list of "wins" on hockeyfights.com

Jim Rutherford traded for Gudbranson from Vancouver - Tom Wilson has to be in the back of Rutherford's mind.   Gudbranson is one tough hombre.  Impressive list of "wins" on hockeyfights.com

Gudbranson is an interesting character, to say the least.  He was the 3rd pick in the 2010 draft, by FLA.  In 6 full years plus parts of 2 others in the NHL he has never averaged less than 17;59 TOI, has averaged over 20 MPG twice, so he has been PLAYED as a top-6 forward, time wise.  He has scored in double digits in points only once in his career, has never had double digits in either goals or assists, and is a career -97 +/-.  He has had plenty of opportunity to play and has never made anything of it.  Now you can say he's been part of not-so-good teams, but when you are a #3 pick you are supposed to be one of the guys who helps pull your team out of mediocrity.  Everything suggests that the man simply doesn't have the skills.

I suspect that if he were our player, he would have been pushed into the volcano years ago, with a tremendous uproar about what a waste of a #3 draft pick.  WHY has this man been given all this ice time??  Tom Wilson, when he was cast as a 4th line tough guy, did better than THAT in half the ice time.

The current pick for volcano on the Caps is Burakovsky, a #24 pick I believe.  In reality, for the Caps he is probably sort of their version of Brett Connolly pre-Caps -- and Connolly was a #6 pick when he was drafted.  Connolly is a career +1 +/-, and Burakovsky is a career +27 so far.  This has been the first year that Burakovsky has been a negative +/-, which suggests that, at least defensively, he is probably not a huge liability.  And to my eyes at least, he isn't.  He is reasonably disciplined on defense without the puck, back checks pretty well (though with finesse, not strength), and his +/- performance seems to dovetail with that.  The complaint with Burakovsky seems to be predominantly on the offensive end, and I will admit it is pretty frustrating to watch.  People ask why he hasn't been banished to the bench or better yet, to some other team.  It may be that he has been competent enough defensively that the team continues to wait for him to break out offensively, realizing that at worst, he isn't costing them an arm and a leg defensively.

OOPS -- correction.   Burakovsky was a #23 pick.

Because he does things that aren’t on stat sheets.  Probably no power play time to pad his stats, on teams, and a bad +/- as his role has him start in the defensive zone to clear the crease and block shots, not play woman’s rules hockey.  If he played knowledgeable fans who say we are missing this skill set would love him, and the naive fans would sight stats and how he doesn’t play woman’s rules, desipote us not giving up 4 goals every 3 or so games.

And Buras AND Connelly’s stats are not good enough for 100 ft players, despite being padded.  Why did loose his spot to Varna? Being as he’s a “natural center” why isn’t he iplayonf center and at a >50% win percentage?  Why isn’t he on the PK and doing good enough to bring it kill percentage >85%?  Because he’s NOT FUCKIN GOOD ENOUGH!!!    He’s a bust that should of been traded 3yrs ago as me and many people said.

Oh and why he’s still here, GMBetaMale said he could only get draft picks, and felts he could get more for him in the off-season, (like we don’t need picks or couldn’t use those picks to get Bassard or Simmons or anything), and “keep the band together”.

For a statistician, you should know how hockey stats work and how read them
