Trade Deadline Updates,Rumors and laugh at Eklund

   GMs gamble sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. Our GM gambled with the Shattenkirk deal but it didnt work. Everything he did after that was panicking, not gambling.
   I'm not happy with the direction this team is going. It looked like the team was headed in the right direction. Finally developing some young players. It was obvious we needed some help in back end. And we can't just blame the rookies. Our veterans have been just as bad defensively. We dont have a shutdown dman on this team. I dont see the 2 new additions helping. If this is the direction we are going we may as well scrap whatever crappy system we are using and go with a run and gun system. This team us so bad defensively right now we need 5 goals to give us a chance.

Yep - it’s hard to see how two, at best, bottom pairing defensemen who couldn’t routinely crack the lineup on two teams with poor defenses are going to help.  Then again, how sad is it that our GM thinks two guys who couldn’t start for Montreal of Chicago are good enough to help us?

A big part is the fad of loading up offensive Dmen was figured out by the rest of the league last year,  which is why these guys didn’t crack the line up. 


Hell even without Weber, I’d take Benn, Perry, and Alzner from Montreal over of any of D. . .This is a team debating trading their captain and your telling me we couldn’t get one of those guys?


Same two reasons, GMBetaMales ability and the front offices nihilistic view that they “know hockey”, “know how to win”, and won’t admit mistakes and make sacrifices to fix them.




Or as I said before, maybe priority is just 700 and if there’s no cup, “at least we had a chance”

   I dont care about Nash. Big time playoff underachiever. I'm still hoping we pick up a real dman. We can go with what we have upfront. Although I wouldn't have a problem with adding va power forward.

I’m more concerned about how much better the Bruins just got.  They now have another huge 200ft player on a roster full of em.


I too wouldn’t mind a power forward,  it what seems to be the most logical would be a player from the Beagle-mold that can help with face-offs, shut down, PK and play all 3 forwards. . . That could take pressure from the DCorps and reduce the liabilities from Connolly, Bura, Kuzy, Varna and others. . .but,it’s The Caps so it’s doubtful either will happen

I don’t care about Nash either. For some reason, we own the Bruins. My ideal scenario is we trade Carlson for two number ones and a prospect, but that ain’t happening. I just hope we don’t do something stupid.... again.

  We aren't really in a position to trade Carlson unless we get a dman back. Still not sure why you guys are hating in him so much. He has been our best dman and it isn't even close. Mind you our dcore has sucked this year.

   We dont know what he will sign for and we dont know if he is going to walk. Im OK with trading him if we get something decent in return. If we weren't going to make the playoffs trading him would be a no brainer.

Yes, he’s the prettiest pig at the county fair, but he has more trade value than actual value for the Caps IMO.   But, GMBM will not trade him, he will sign him for waaaay too much this off season and saddle us with another anchor from a collection of players who collectively fail every playoff season.  It’s time to dismantle this team.  I’m at the point I don’t think anyone, and I mean anyone, is untradeable.

There is no way the Caps are going to trade Carlson.  I expect the Caps will re-sign Carlson to a multi year contract and I have no problem with that.  I am looking forward to seeing him paired with Kempny which I believe will happen against the Blue Jackets tomorrow night since they were paired together in today’s practice.  While Kempny is not a shutdown defenseman he is very good at quickly getting the puck out of our end and we don’t get hemmed in our defensive zone.  I think it is going to be a good pairing.

  I hope Holtby doesn't do a Patrick Roy. I wouldn't blame him. He looks completely disgusted every time he gives up a goal on a bad defensive play. There have been a lot. Some of it is on Holtby but our def is brutal.

Absolutely right. This fan base has been suckered into thinking that regular season wins mean we are capable of winning a Cup. We keep losing in the playoffs because none of our key guys have the leadership or the extra gear it takes to win it. The sooner we turn over this team and start accumulating assets the sooner we have a chance at a Cup.

Hello All.  As some know, my job has kept me in the "lurking" zone most of the season.  But I am so f'ing happy to finally hear something I've been saying for seasons to Detroit and Lady.  This team is not going to make it to the Cup and its that simple.  While we can debate who we should or should not keep (I'm in the trade Ovechkin camp) whether its this trade-deadline or the off season or the upcoming draft, the ownership/senior management better get off of their asses or we're going to look like an even worse version of the present Rangers.
