"He's finally getting it"  I can hear it now..

Good call Mick!!
TOTALLY AGREE!!
No true fan is ever unhappy, when one of their players has a good streak, IN, AND OF ITSELF,! Even a short one, viewed as a singular event, is always GOOD!!

HELLO PEOPLE!! We have a little thing called HISTORY, on Bura, and A LOT of it!!!
Bura ALWAYS has a good streak, EVERY SEASON that he’s been a PRO!! Sometimes he’s even had TWO short litttle streaks in a season!!!.......Well frickin’ slap my ass, and call me Sally...SO WHAT!!

He is CONSISTENT!!  Not at “getting it”!  He’s VERY CONSISTENT at having been given super OPPORTUNITIES, to discover if he  IS  “getting it”!

H E   I S   N O T   “G E T T I N G   IT”   N O W,   E I T H E R !!!

He has not “finally come to understand”!!  He does not “have a grip on things, now”!!

What he HAS done, is FAILED to respond positively to at least SIX, public disciplinary events!!
Never once positively responding in the time period following shortly after the discipline!!
RATHER, his “improvement”, AT BEST, came in a patternless, random fashion, without regard to whether the team was desperately in NEED, or NOT in need, of his newly found “good streak”!

We’ve made excuse, after excuse, for him, over the last few years, AND SO HAVE HIS COACHES!!
Bura has had a level of patience extended to him, that defies most pro sports logic!

NEVER, have I heard him utter a word of appreciation TO ANYBODY, in reference to those coaches OR fans, who have tolerated his career, thus far!! I’m not talking about the typical “thank you’s”, for the opportunity to play, Hell thats common to hear from many players!! I’m talking about specifically to his
singular and unique experiences! (And I am a post game interview hound dog)!!

What he has done lately, is having an uptick in his performance on the ice, which has helped our team!!
Surprise!!....That’s his expected JOB! We aren’t blessed OR lucky if Bura decides to play well!!

He’s having a good streak! That’s a GOOD THING!  But here’s a nice little test if you’re not sure how you feel about Bura’s new good streak:

Ok... You magically get $10,000 given to you from a genie. You have only two things you are permitted to do with this money:

1) Bet it all that Bura will be a consistent, dominantly scoring, forward, for the rest of his career in the NHL. Feared by defenseman, throughout the league, and becoming a hall of famer, in the end!
                           OR
2) Bet it all that Bura’s career never blossoms to his talents potential, predictably sputtering, in and out of acceptable play, ALL THE TIME!!!  He will have occasional good streaks, but predominantly marked, more often, by sub-par play, more “mental issues”, resets, talking about how his legs are “feeling good”, etc. etc!!

Show me the $, if you’re betting on #1, and I will show you my $ for betting on #2!!
Matter of fact, I’ll take on any amount!!

Still liking what #65 is bringing, as of late, however!!

Even when playing organized sports, I've never slapped another man on the ass, so I'll pass on that one. :snicker:

Watching Bura's hot streak it had occurred to me as well that GMGM thinks he's finally got it, even though we all know Bura doesn't know what "it" is.

The team was on fire in San José, gotta wonder where that's been all season, but as long as they keep it up its the right time of year for it. This team still needs help on Dfence though. Quality help too, not another Shitpants trade, and not a rental.

Fine.  You want quality defensive help sometime in the next 10 days.  I presume that means you want a stout defender with some experience (no young/unproven players) who has shown capability to at least challenge for a top-4 defensive role; not 3rd pair/depth defensemen.  The problem is that you have to pay for someone like that, more even than the room Burakovsky would provide, and there isn't enough cap space to handle a really expensive option even if you DO get rid of Bura somehow.   And then you have to worry about whether it's a rental or whether the player has more years remaining on his current contract, because the Caps have some resigns coming up that will cost some money.

As for the San Jose game:  Funny, the way San Jose players/management described it, it wasn't so much the Caps as San Jose not being ready to play the other night for whatever reasons.  Down games happen to EVERYBODY.  Down periods during games happen to EVERYBODY.  From the way we hear things described on this site you'd think the Caps are the only team with down times; everyone else is playing full out, 60 minutes a game every game.  It just isn't true.

Burt + Orlov = 8.1 million in cap space.

Everybody has an excuse, but San Jose "not being ready" had nothing to do with the crisp, fast, tape to tape passing that helped us exit our zone (and get through the neutral zone) like a professional hockey team, for a change.. That was the catalyst for the nights success, imo. That and Holtby stood on his head 3 or 4 times.

PUCKNRUSH:
Hey Mick!
I do like the Bura/Orlov trade idea! That would be my wish list trade!
2 things I see working against it, though.

1) There is time left b4 deadline, but it is approaching, and will be gone before we know it.

2) More significant, I believe, is in asking who would want Orlov, with his nice contract that GMBM gave him??  Don’t think either Bura or Orly will draw their cap hit equivalent against the Caps. Maybe a lucky “needs” type fit for Bura, for a team that is speedy forward desperate, but what defensive need will Orlov fill, when judged by another teams GM?

If legal, maybe GMBM shops for 6 mil, for both, pays out of pocket, the other 2 mil makeup money, and hope the cap space is at 5-6 mil when all said and done. I’ve no idea on NHL legality of this scenario. But just throwing it out there.

As far as Caps play at San Jose, I’m kind of a hybrid between you and Black on this one. I too thought our passing was a bit more crisp, and saw SOME improvement in bringing up the puck out of our zone! Better yet, I liked our increased hustle and “buying in”, by the team! Not letting the first goal get them down!
However, if you’ve been watching San Jose, over the last month or two, as a fan, you would have to say that they were undoubtedly flat! They’ve also had our number over the recent years past, and they appeared a bit sluggish to me, in general!

In the end though, there are more numerous accolades for the Caps, from our win, than the negatives put on San Jose’s play! Mainly and simply, we needed a WIN, after that shit show, in Columbus! AND we needed an DOMINANT style game even more! AND We SHOULD’VE defeated a great San Jose team when they’ve played a little off kilter!!!  AND WE DID, SOUNDLY!!!!
