DC_1908:
That time of year again, March 3 is coming up . . .

Buyers, Sellers, Trades, Market, Market Value, Pricing, Rentals, needs, wants, predictions. . . .

What moves should the Caps make, will the Caps make, how much will they pay, will it work?

Here we go . . .

DC_1908:
The most talked about move for the Caps our old shot from the point Mike Green https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/capitals-insider/wp/2018/01/29/the-red-wings-mike-green-may-be-on-the-move-soon-could-he-land-back-with-the-capitals/?utm_term=.5e7eb5b9bd49

Now this can make sense.  Rather its a contract year, maturity, system, organization, team mates, fellow defenseman quality, or whatever, Grren has been twice the Defenseman, not just the fourth forward he was here.

So unlike Shattenkrap, if Green played like he Detroit, he'd come in to be our best all around Dman  (particularly as Niskaken has apparently checked out).

However, the asking price will be steep, more than likely the top prospect and/or first round pick range: https://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2017/11/21/16687534/red-wings-oilers-nhl-trade-rumors-kings-ransom-mike-green-jesse-puljujarvi-mcdavid-for-ericsson

Given our depleted prospects and picks, and the near fact that even most delusional optimist with a 24 IV drip of Caps Marketing Kool Aid "We have a chance" fan can deny:  we are more than one Dman from being a serious Cup threat.

So this could come down to GMBetaMale vs Ken Holland. . . and that is not a matchup GMBetaMAle will win.  I can very easily see GMBetaMales need to make the biggest deal at the deadline, and for a fan favorite no less, that he will not only pay an insane price for Green, but will give away something that he and the Caps don't think much of, who will then turn into a solid pro for the Wings.

So well see, but the only way I see this not happening is the Caps have nothing the Wings want, or another team bids more than GMBetaMale can whilst still dressing 20 players.

4 Caps:
I thought the trade deadline was February 26 but I could be wrong.  As for trading for Mike Green, I pretty much agree with what you said.  He definitely would be an upgrade over Bowey but  I think the price will be way too high plus I am not sure we could fit him under the salary cap unless Detroit retained part of his salary.  If we could get him for no more than a second round pick and a grade B prospect I would be for it but I definitely would not trade our 1st round pick or a grade A prospect which we do not have many of.

I haven't been fond of rentals in years. Also, this team can't afford to trade anything for one. The only move I would make is for a defenseman, but why bring in one when you need three. I wouldn't be surprised if the Caps do nothing at the deadline this year.

ArJunaZ:
I'm waiting to see when they start bringing in robots that can play a full 60 minutes.  One day the Stanley Cup will go to the team with the best programmers. Or maybe the players will be at home in front of their XBOX Kinect controlling the players on the ice, to keep some human element in the game.
