Trade Deadline Updates,Rumors and laugh at Eklund
Maacoshark:
Right now I would say management has been our downfall. Bad trades, bad signings, weak drafting although some of that is due to the fact that we traded away a lot of draft picks. I mean we didnt pick until the 4th round last season. Maybe we should have kept GMGM. Do we miss him yet? I'm starting to miss him.

don't forget it was GMGM that held on to Green about 3 years too long in the first place

Yes, however I am doubting how many of the descisions of that ilk where his, or if he agreed to them at all and just had no choice.
The same trends have continued after he’s gone, but have amplified and gotten worse. All while in his new job, he has built one of the best teams in league, in the toughest division, with no superstars, and cap space to boot, all in one season.
While there’s a myriad of other factors, based on the two facts above, it’s pretty clear to see that the issue is with the Caps front office, and to speculate we’d have far better success if he had the power here that he has in Vegas

Every GM makes mistakes but its been one mistake after another for the past year. The trade for Shattenkirk, overpaying for a few players in the off season forcing us to make a trade because we got ourselves in Cap trouble. We also lost some guys to free agency. Not to mention losing Schmidt in the expansion draft. And then look at the aquistions we made this season. All borderline players. It was a terrible year for management. I'd give them an F.
I'm beginning to think we may have been better off letting Oshie walk. We could have kept Johansson add maybe added a better option if defense. I know Johansson has had injury issues but so has Oshie. Keeping Johansson over Oshie would have saved on Cap space. He is also 4 years younger.

Yes, but there’s a difference between gambling and loosing, vs being a dumbass and/or having to follow the orders of a dumbass.
One of the prime examples is Hosea and Frazen. In hindsight, giving a contract to Johan Frazen over Marion Hossa is flat out ridiculous if not deliberately tanking a team. . .
But, at the time it was a young 200ft player that was setting playoff scoring records or an above average player that couldn’t win a Cup.
