impressive..

https://novacapsfans.com/2021/04/19/sharks-patrick-marleau-plays-in-nhl-record-1768th-career-game/

OV is only at 1200 games

Congrats to him.

I find this stat amazing:  Marleau has appeared in at least one game with 37.14% of all NHL players to ever play the game.  That's crazy.

23 years in the NHL and never won a cup.

Caps are currently clinging to 1st place with 62 points and off till Thursday vs the Isles...then Saturday vs Isles

Isles are 2 pts back with game in hand (plays Rangers then Washington twice)
Pit is 3 points back with game in hand  (plays vs NJ the next 3 games)
Boston is 6 points back with 3 games in hand (and plays Buffalo the next 3 games)

So by end of Friday...Caps could be in 4th place

Isles 64 pts
Pitt 63 pts
Boston 62 pts
Wash 62pts

and by Saturday eve..

Pitt  65 pts
Isles 64 pts
Boston 62 (with 1 game in hand)
Wash 62 pts
NYR   60 pts  (Or Isles with 66 and NYR with 58)

Caps and Isles play each other twice in next few games so ONLY one will pick up points so ALL teams behind them can gain ground on at least one of the leaders.

It's going to be pretty tight throughout the last 10 games of the season.  Six of last 10 Caps have remaining is against top 4 contender, plus two against Rangers who are desperate to get in, and two vs Philly (who are done I think)

Caps need to bring the A game the last 10 games.  No coasting into the playoffs this year, but maybe that's good.

GO CAPS

WOULD suspend him for 48 games in a 56 game season, fined the team 25% of its gross revenue for the season and fined the coach half his annual salary

The East is stupid.. If the Bruins win the 2 games they have in hand, the top 4 teams in the east (through 46 games) would be separated by 1 point.

Rest up boyz! Playoffs start Thursday as far as Im concerned..

Fuck ya. Hate those damn 3 point games.
It should be a very interesting finish in the a east.  I think the Caps have a tougher remaining schedule than everyone else in the division. These next 3 games against the Islanders are huge.

Well I was really just giving the worst case scenario.

At this point, OTHER than the Caps WINNING their games and making all else moot, the best case scenario is NYR keeps losing.

Boston's two games in hand are both against Buffalo, so....By Friday it very likely will look like......

Isles 64
Pitt   63
Boston  62
Caps  62

ANd Caps vs Isles Saturday and Hens vs NJ Saturday could be...

Pitt  65
Isles 64
Caps 64
Boston 62

Pitt and Boston play each other Sunday, so.....only one of them will pickup 2 pts SUnday

SHould make for some interesting hockey....too bad I won't be watching any of it. :'(

Yep, had your pick of legends to choose from, back in the day! Nascar has tried just about everything in the book since, to get back to that era.. Well, everything except fixing the bodies and parts so they don't have a shit ton of downforce. Every race was like watching Atlanta or Darlington. Even Daytona they'd get out of shape and have to actually drive the cars! Miss those days for sure..

I got most of the car magazines back in the day, wish I still had few of them

It also disproves the theory that those cars were as aerodynamic as a brick

240mph is doing somethin in a car.  I did not know they could do that (even on a test track) with them thar redneck rides.

I had a 340 'Cuda 4 speed back in the day - it had the Hurst pistol grip shifter.  I had it up to about 130mph out on Rte 7 between Reston and leesburg one night.  This was 1984 and that was a straight and unoccupied road  (well mostly, late at night anyway).  It was late, after 11 at least, pitch black and believe me that car was moving and shaking at 110.  That night was the one and only time I put that car up above 110 or so, and rarely past 90 really.  We (my best friend and I) were trying to see just how fast she'd go that night.  130 was all I could muster. Speedometer was jiggling quite a bit so we're guessing and claiming we topped out around 130.  Honestly felt like it MIGHT have had a teeny bit more, but I can say we were seconds away from something getting loose.
Just as I began to let off I thought I saw something moving up ahead.  No shit there was a big black steer trotting along the shoulder ON THE SHOULDER of the road.  We passed him at about 110 at about 8' of clearance.  Almost never saw him...could see his tail waving back and forth as he trotted along.  Sum bitch nearly killed all of us.  Young and stupid we were.  Had some great fun in that car though.
Kevin was my best friend and he's been gone ten years now.  Great guy, died way too young from heart complications from lifetime of diabetes.  Miss him nearly every day.  He was such a good guy.

Anyway, I did about 130 in that Cuda and that maxed out it and me both in that ride
