not entirely sure how this all works, but, apparently the Hens and Rags have been eliminated from further play

Ugh.  I hate mid-day Caps games.  They have a hard enough time getting up to play....I really wonder how exciting the playoffs will be when nobody seems to really be up for it.

as far as the NFL is concerned he is now free to find a new drug...

https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/local/dc/derrius-guice-arrested-washington-football-team-dan-snyder/65-9b857901-b460-499f-9df0-b17c00b58499

The Skins...oh sorry...."those who shall remain nameless" are a magnet for trouble.  Actually, I think it's less magnet and more..."shit rolls downhill", "water seeks its own level" concept.  This will not change IMO until they have a complete change in ownership and culture.

A player could be the most talented player in the world, but if he's a POS in life....why would you add him to a team environment where his poison will spread.  How well do you think he is going to help in a "team" environment?  You keep adding doses of poison to your team and eventually the whole team is poisoned.  I'm not picking on this one player in particular, but the culture of the NFL in general.  Albert Hanesworthless was a perfect example.  Guy cared about nothing but himself.

The NFL as a whole has turned a blind eye to the "character" of it's players for too long and now it's biting them.  People (including me) just don't watch anymore.  It isn't just the NFL, but they are a good example of the lack of integrity today.

And if it were not "domestic abuse" or some other politically incorrect topic, they would've just swept it under the rug again.

FU to the NFL in general.  I have watched maybe 5-6 games in the last 3-4 years.  I don't miss it.  Actually I'm happy to NOT witness the ongoing shenanigans.  Just pisses me off.

16-4 final

Yeah, well as usual, I'm about 5 games behind.  I have them recorded, but I rarely can watch them.
I decided to watch the most recent and watched the Nats vs O's from Sunday.
O's were pretty much in control - knocked out Strasburg with 5 runs by about the 5th inning.  So I'm watching this, pretty much ready to quit when it starts raining heavily (6th inning I believe)
THe grounds crew starts rolling out the big tarp and it's all tangled.  like 15 guys pushing and rolling and rerolling the thing around for literally 15 minutes.  They finally get it under control, but it's literally been 15 minutes of downpour and the field is ruined.
Coverage finally breaks away to alternative progromming....X-games or some shit   for like 2 hours.  I fast forward recording to the 4 hour mark to see the bright sunshine on the field and the umps and coaches standing around and the grounds crew literally shoveling up cart fulls of mud.  I think no way are they gonna fix this in time to play again.  My recording ends (4+ hours) and I don't see the outcome.

I see they postponed to finish another day....should just right this one off.  I think they were in the 6th inning but maybe it was only the 5th?
I thought they only needed 5 innings for a complete game.  Is it 5-1/2?

Picked the wrong one to watch - should have watched yesterday's game

Never seen any debacle like this on a grounds crew.  Someone's getting fired.

And the one bright spot - Jaun Soto.  This dude can play.  Can't believe how well this guy hits at his age.  Even his extended time off hasn't seemed to throw off his timing.  He is fun to watch.

there have been tarp issues before(not here) but it's rare, and I wouldn't fire anyone over it, definitely odd how it got tangled on the roller. But Nats park is a fairly new park, it should have all the state of the art drainage systems, this is the 4th or 5th time I've seen it not be able to handle the rain, and that wasn't a lot of rain that night.

Soto is an amazing talent. He only played 2-3 weeks in the minors before he was promoted, and definitely an improvement over that ass that wears 34

Jesus, the Nats stink too, but Soto is something else.
If you haven't seen it, go look at his bomb from the 1st last night.  Statcast says 466 feet, but it landed on the sidewalk above the upper deck.  about 10' from leaving the stadium.
That sum bitch is awesome.
Too small of a sample size to be meaningful, but he is 11/26, batting .423 with 4HR and 9RBI in seven games.  Not a bad start coming in cold.

He better be careful or NOBODY is going to let him swing pretty soon.

Fun to watch though.  Hope he doesn't let it go to his head.

So the Nats lost AGAIN.

I've been doing some "in-depth" analysis and I see one factor that jumps out....Nats are losing games where....the Opponent Scores more runs than us.  :raspberry:

And this is happening alot.  Nats are 6-9.  and really should be 6-10 except for the rain delay debacle.

And they have not even faced the top two teams in their own Division (Miami & Atlanta).

This is starting to look ugly folks.  Nats have played 16 games and have held opponent to 3 or fewer runs only 5 times, and lost two of those 5.

Average runs against is 4.56 run per game.  They have a -12 run differential.  Neither of these figures is atrocious, but neither is anywhere close to a team making the playoffs.

With a short 60 game seasons, it's already more than 1/4 over.  There's not a lot of time to make up for early bad (or average) play for a team that wan't to make the playoffs.

Go Nats
