I don't think that's the issue with this team

Well not the only, but the perdictabiliy of personal, their routines, and tendencies certainly are, and teams are exploiting it.
When toedtags become turnovers, passes being jumped. multiple SOG without goals as the goalies are one step ahead, a large part of that is from scouting and exploiting the weakness in routines.
This is assuredly is part of what is causing the mental breakdowns we see.

I agree. I think our biggest problems have turnovers on toedrags, drop passes at the blue line and the worst is the no look pass from the corner to the slot which usually ends up in an odd man rush the other way. Kuzy has been very guilty of all of those plays. So have Burakovsky and Eller although Eller has been more successful than the other 2.
Oshie cane Backstrom are really struggling. Not sure what's wrong with either of them. Oshie can't seem to control the puck at all and whiffs every time he has a chance at a onetimer. I think Backstrom's problem has been more about how teams are defending him. Because he is so patient and such a good passer teams tended to back off but this year it seems teams are playing more aggressive forcing him to make a play before he wants to. He will need to adjust.

yea, but this has more to do with the core group, 1: not skating/coasting/being lazy, and B: not improving upon their skill set/relying on what got them the job 4,5,10 years ago
Maacoshark:
I dont think the majority of players are going to be able to improve their skill set at this point in their careers. You have a very good point about lazy play and coasting. There is way too much of that. Some guys really need to improve their hockey IQ.
DC_1908:
I whole haryedly agreed with both of you. I am just suggesting that lack of change results in easy preparation for the other teams, making us easier to play against. I’m suggesting both acts as a catalyst and exvellerant to these issues we agree on.
However, as both cited, hockey IQ is assuredly another major issue. Which could make doing what I’m suggesting quite difficult and why it’s not done a lot. For example, if trots sent out Ovie, Beagke, and Bura, three players who have not played together much recently, Ovie would probably get pissed, Buras head would would explode, (not mentions the fans/commentators), while Beagle would probably say what play are we running?
