As expected, Rierdon doesn't have them ready to play.  Another pathetic home effort.  So glad Boyd scratched to keep Panik on the ice.

There were a few times I saw Panik standing around their goal just puck watching instead of battling and making space.  Quite a few Caps appeared to linger tonight as opposed two their usual aggressive attack on the puck.  They were just not prepared in any fashion for this game. I think as Mick stated it was a trap game for sure.

I didn't say anything (not that I ever would ahead of a game), but I had a strong feeling today that this game was not going to be pretty.  Big game coming up Wednesday; just came off a long successful road trip; have already won 6 in a row; Bäckström returning causing shuffling of the lines;  I think these were all working to encourage complacency and excuses tonight.  Plus the Jackets were on a 4-game skid and hungry to prove themselves.  The classic trap formula painted a bleak picture for us tonight and we obliged.

I agree Wayne on Panik/Boyd!


 I was a little surprised at all the line mixup, due to Backys’ return!
 May have contributed to a giant lack of chemistry tonight, overall!


 Panik may be on borrowed time.  Boyd would have been the better insert!


 Torts had his guys motivated tonight, and that goalie played pretty well!
 Holtby was the main reason this game was even close at the start of the third P.


 I DID notice that Seigenthaler was really making an effort to up his physicality on the boards!  His defensive skills are very steadily improving!

I think Reirden is doing a very good job. In spite of last night egg they laid, this team seems leaps and bounds better overall than any previous Caps team.  I hope the lack of battle in them last night was due to looking ahead to tomorrow's Bruins game. What we saw last night was a hungry Jackets team and a feckless Caps team; not a good indication of where this team has been overall.

odd that last night was the first time this season the entire squad has played because of injuries and a suspension, seemed chemistry was off as the passing sucked, but a bad bad night all around as Holts let in a couple softies

Well....I'd say (other than last night) he has done well.  He's going to get the Lion's share of blame for anything and everything that goes wrong, so he should get the kudos when they're due.  Caps have been one of if not the best team all year so something is right with what he is doing with this team.
