I think they won gold in 92 as team unified. You remember the 88 Olympics? Weren't you pretty young at that time.

um, my birthday as displayed here is not accurate, on purpose.

I remember exactly where I was while watching the Miracle On Ice, and the importantance of it, and that it wasn't even the Gold medal game. Herb Brooks left us far too soon. In '88 I remember the Flames had a 15 or 16 day road trip because the Saddeldome was being used for the Olympics, that's about when I became an Ijinla fan, must've been his rookie year. It amazing to look at places like Lake Placid because there is no way in hell they could host the games there now without quadrupling the size of the town, at a minimum.

I think someone has Greenway. Pretty sure the wild have his rights. I wouldn't mind a kid like that on the Caps

I think Minny has that very young Russian kid - can't remember his name off hand - got a couple of goals previous game, but yes Greenway does look good also.

Lol OK. And I thought you were a punk kid. That miracle on ice did wonders for hockey in the US. If that doesn't happen I dont think hockey would be as strong in the US as it is. They have a very solid hockey program now.

too uncomfortable to sleep last night, both channels had hockey on. After watching two crap games yesterday I had zero interest, so it was reruns of Blue Planet

Nothing wrong with reruns of Blue Planet. The wife and I put on reruns of Ancient Aliens at night to fall asleep. It sucks but I can't fall asleep without the TV on.

The first season of aliens was interesting, lots of plausible stuff presented. Past two seasons are a joke,
at least Giorgio stopped with the spray tans

best show now is Oak Island, but the way it's getting dragged out is annoying. The Vikings were up there in 1000AD, the Templar fleet and a vast majority of their treasure has not been located. I've seen the Newport tower, and I'm convinced it's a Templar church of the 1300s. It's identical to surviving ones in Europe with the ambulatory removed. That's about the same time the Scotts were fishing the Grand Banks too. The North American continent was no secret at the time, and this is all a good 200 years before Columbus. I believe the Templars went two ways, one group can here at just about the same time Switzerland all of a sudden got a proper army for the time. There is a big group of historians that are not letting the pre Columbus history get written

I also think that if the library at Alexandria had not been burned we'd have a colony on Mars by now, at a minimum

USA women completely bossed the Finnish girls.  Bit of a shame for the Finnish goalie, Rati, but the team in front of her were completely out classed.  It's been an eye opener watching some of this women's hockey.  The skill levels are definitely up there.
Some very familiar names out there... ;D

with that win the ladies move to the gold medal game, will play the winner of Canada vs Russia. I kinda hope it's Canada, the ladies need payback after Sochi, and it should be a very physical game, at least as women's hockey goes

I'm obviously hoping Canada wins gold again. Easily the top 2 teams but I think the US has the better team.

sounds like you're anti American  ;D

U.S. men's hockey won tonight, 5-1 over Slovakia, they actually advance to the semifinals which means the medal games. They play the Czechs tomorrow at 10:10pm. If they win they get Bronze at a minimum

The women's Gold medal game, USA vs Canada, is Thursday at 11:10pm

USA has to beat the Czech Republic to advance to semi-finals.  If they lose in the semi-finals wouldn’t they have to play for the bronze medal against the other loser in the semi-final round.

well that sucked, what is it about these two teams when they play on the same day?

U.S. men lost in a shootout, will come home empty handed.
