I think the ump is just blind or biased. Same pitch from Verlander is called strike, opposite call for us.

True. I noticed the plate ump is often still in the process of moving down into position as the pitcher is throwing. Must be affecting his ability to judge the zone. Sometimes the ball is over the plate as or before he sets.
