Am I the only one who feels guilty about being handed this game?
Kuzy absolutely should have got a 2 + 2 for that high stick towards the end.
Bad reffing is bad reffing.

On a plus note, I had the Cane's feed, so got the face to face time with Big Willy in the first intermission!  :-*
I feel guilty a bit guilty about this win. Between the Canes and officials the game was kind of handed to us. Officials have impacted the outcome of games way too often this season. The Caps have actually had more calls go our way than against. In the past it seemed those calls always went against us. Hopefully the officiating will improve.

Maaco, I actually think your official opinion on Carlson is not that far off. I think what you are missing is how the lazy turnovers and lack of physical play really, really infuriates those of us that are not Carlson supporters.

I think it is time to wish him well and move on.

I am not in the camp that wants to get rid of Dylan right now.  I don't think, as a team, we can afford to.
I believe it was me that coined the term "lacksadaisical"  regarding him and that is my biggest issue with him.  He has cost us at least one goal from his nonchalantly gliding back to the bench after his shift.  Maybe two, but it was so obvious!  It was embarrassing, pointless and just plain LAZY!  He seems to have a slower mental capacity for the game than many.  Everybody makes mistakes, yes, but he has so many brain farts!   He's an easy target, for sure, but it's like he holds up the targets for us to aim at.

@ Maaco.  You should have been here for the "Throw Mojo into the volcano" years!   :P
I probably would have joined in on the Throw Mojo into the volcano. He was one if those guys that rubbed me the wrong. I thought we should have shipped him out a couple years earlier. I felt he was underachieving. I'm second guessing that a but now because we are seeing Burakovsky fail miserably. Maybe Mojo wasn't that bad. I have seen enough if Burakovsky. I wouldn't have a problem if he was a healthy scratch the rest of the year. I really hope we can trade this guy. Sorry if my opinions on him offend anyone but he just isn't doing for me.
Hey Maaco
Totally agree with you, both on Mojo, and Bura! Mojo had up and down, effort issues, as well!
Trotz calls out VERY FEW players by name, when it’s negative, but Bura has teetered in and out of Trotzys rifle scope, every season he’s been here! Mojo did produce 20+ goals a year, although he was lucky to be in the right place and the right time for many of them!
Bura is a different story. I don’t think he has the mentality to CONSISTENTLY play at the NHL level! He’s had 3 personal resets given him, by Trotz, and has never appreciably responded!
Anyway glad to be like minded with you on this one!

I understand the discontent with Burakovsky but I have not given up on him yet.  The kid has shown potential, he just has to find consistency and his injuries have not helped him.  The fact is we need him to reach his potential because the only other young player the Caps have who has the potential to be a 25 to 30 goal scorer is Vrana.  We are going to need scorers and if Burakovsky and Vrana don’t develop into consistent goal scorers we will be in big trouble down the road.  Teams like the Devils, Flyers, Islanders and even Carolina have young forwards who have the potential to be 30 goal scorers in the near future.  This is another reason we should not trade our first round draft pick this year at the trade deadline.  We need to resupply our system with some top end prospects.

I have no problems or doubts with Vrana.  Burro canT be gone quick enough for me.
He is Sasha Semin without the skill, but with a whole lot more attitude, IMHO.     And without the whole mental health issue.

Hey 4Caps!  Again, WELCOME and glad to see you here!

OK-
Discontent...going once?
Discontent...going twice?
Discontent...going THREE TIMES!! (remember this, I’ll come back to it, in a minute)

You mentioned not giving up on him because of his potential! I would have agreed with you, his first year!  Maybe even, I’ll stretch it, to a second year to believe in him, for potential sake!
BUT THREE RESETS !!! And after each one, NO REAL CONSISTENCY!
CONSISTENCY IS POTENTIAL, BEING REALIZED!  Over time, consistency turns potential into REALITY!
All the POTENTIAL, in the world, without consistency, is simply occasional FLASHES of great play!
(Now, back to referencing the 3 times DISCONTENT)
Actually more than 3 times, if, as you said, we consider his injuries time off!
So after 3 head coach resets, and injuries combined, each time, upon his return to the ice, we anticipated Mr Bura “turning it around”!  Short of a couple of INCONSISTENT flashses, there has been NO appreciable turnaround to speak of!
I believe I am more in line with Trotz on this. Trotz has obviously lost patience with him, and isn’t giving Bura a whole lot of opportunities, anymore, to show this “potential”! That’s not good for Bura, as he now would have to produce within the ever-shrinking windows he’s being given!!
IMHO, he has been given some of the MOST CHOICE opportunities to show himself, and he, and his super ego have squandered them to pieces. His biggest problem now is that he caused himself to be under Trotz’s negative radar!  Good luck getting out of that!

Respectfully submitted,

Rush

Rush I hear you and you may be right but remember Burakovsky is still relatively young and I just can’t give up on him yet because we need him.  Last year after his so called reset he did play well on the third line with Eller and Connolly and ended up with 12 goals.  He also did well in the playoffs when he was moved up to play with Backstrom and Oshie.  The year before last year he scored 17 goals so he has demonstrated that he can score.  There is no question this year has been a disappointment so far but again the injury has not helped.  You may think I am crazy but I am hoping that he will replace Smith-Pelly on the top line.  Smith-Pelly simply does not have the skill to be on the 1st line.  Playing with Ovie and Backstrom Burt will get a lot of scoring opportunities.

This was the same excuse that a few people made for Mojo - year, after year, after year,  :-( and he was absolutely a better all round player than Burro is.

The problem with Burro is in between his ears, not his skill and most certainly not his youth, or inexperience.  It's his hockey sense, or lack of it.  His lack of TEAM anything!  He's on a team with some of the best players of our generation and can't seem to learn from them.  He just doesn't seem capable of grasping the reality of his situation.

There are better shots on this team, that aren't even called Ovi.  There are better passers and stick-handlers and playmakers than him.  There are better skaters and pretty much everyone else is a better team player and works harder than him.
The guy is just delusional.  He needs two dressing rooms.  One for him and one for his ego.
He's had three seasons now.  That's enough.  maybe our coaches, our staff and our players don't work for him.  Maybe he'd be a better fit somewhere else.  If so, good luck to him, but enough is enough.

I would hate to see him on the top line, the top six even.  Willy should be there and I agree with you about Smelly.  He isn't quite doing it either, but Burro is absolutely NOT the answer, IMHO.  He really kind of reminds me of a cross between Sasha Semin and Mojo - and not the good parts of either.  :(

Sorry babes.

I agree with Lily. He doesn't seem to understand the team concept. We aren't talking just about a young player struggling to score. A player can struggle to score but help the team in other ways. He doesn't do that. He doesn't put in the effort needed. You dont reward a player like this by putting him on the top line. He has to earn his way. He is wearing out his welcome in DC with the fans. I have a feeling that the Caps are shopping him. Right now his isn't worthy of a roster spot.
Since we were talking about the first line I'd like to Wilson back on the top line, Smith Pelly down to the 4th and Stephenson up to the 3rd line.

I’ve beeb saying trade Bura for the past two years. .

But it may be to late to get a good return now

GMBetasMale signed him for to much to soon, and now his value is plummeting and leaving us with another bad and near unreadable contact

We’d be lucky to get a second rounder for him straight up, and he’s value in a mutiplayer deal is all but gone.

Good to be here!!

I took my 10-year old to his first Caps road game to Raleigh last week. Saw it with my local friend and his kid. I was surprised at how many Caps fans were there! Loved the result and my son got a puck tossed at him from Connelly. ;D

It was a crapshoot trying to get an Uber out from there though, very long lines and complete chaos.
