IMO Holtby failed to cover the post tight and let it slip through. He wasn't expecting the shot it seemed.

    Ok you guys are blaming Holtby because one of the dmen lost his man. It would have been nice if Holtby bailed his defence out but I'm not sure I'd blame him.

It was a high angle shot from out wide. Clearly Holtby wasn't expecting the shot and left a lot of room for that puck to squeak in.  No one else at fault there.

I would say there was a bit of luck too while scoring this goal ,therefore I’m not fully blame on  Holtby for that goal however he could catch that puck too.

It probably would have gone in anyway. Holts left a 6-8 inch gap between he and the post. The deflection was insignificant IMO.

I just watched it back from multiple angles. The deflection shifted the puck a bit.  With that gap it probably would have gone in anyway. It was Orpik's man that he DECIDED to separate from just as they approached the crease. Orpik wasn't expecting the shot either.  It could be argued, but I think Holtby could have played it much better.

OK I watched the replay on the goal and I dont know how you think that puck was going in if it wasnt deflected. It looked like the trajectory was to go through the crease. If the puck wasnt deflected I think the puck would have hit Holtby.

Everyone expect Orpik was wide over on the shot side of the goal.  There was no one to pass it to that would have given Holtby a reason to come away from the post. As I saw it he was never really at the post as tight as one would expect. Not sure why Orpik did not stay with his man when they reached the crease except that it may not have seemed a threatening situation with most players on the opposite wall. Orpik might have been able to stop the deflection, but not sure it would have mattered.

If Holts sealed the gap at the post there would have been no goal. The deflection I saw was insignificant and could have gone in without it. As I said, it could be argued, but Holts had no reason to come away from the post.

Maybe we'll have to disagree.
