Back from the game.
Unlike what the Yahoo headline claims, Ovie did NOT lead the Caps to victory today. Holtby and Wilson did.
Wilson is the best forward on the team right now. Period. It was he that finally got the team awake in the 2nd period when he overtook a guy down the ice to prevent an icing. Then of course he was the first one to shoot where I wanted the puck to go, high to Bernier's stick side. And I was just amazed with his passing and puck placement all game. It's like everything he touches turns to gold at this point.
Holtby stopped 3 breakaways late in the 2nd period. The defense really hung him out to dry. That was what really kept the game in hand.
The hero on Kempny's goal was DSP with a perfect screen. Bernier never saw the shot -- he never moved a muscle.
Ovie for some reason was shooting 5 hole on Bernier the entire game. He finally got one to go for the 3rd goal.
This game sort of had the feel, after the Caps got going, that they were going to do whatever was needed to win this game, and if they don't have anything against the Rangers tomorrow so be it.
