Happy Veterans Day

I have nothing but the utmost respect for those that volunteer for the job, the hardships of missing family, and the potential loss of life or limb...

Knowledge is knowing that the Tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is knowing that you shouldn't include it in a Fruit Salad; Philosophy is wondering if a Bloody Mary counts as smoothie

 I’m doin a shots for:
My Stepdad (C-130 in Nam)
My Paternal Grandfather (volunteered for WW2, but was refused to go to Europe and had to stay in Mi and build plane and tank engines)
and my Maternal Grandfather:  (volunteered for WW2 when he was a junior, signed up for the 101st the day after his graduation, parachuted on D-Day. fought in the Buldge, and raided the Eagles Nest)
and my cousin, who I don’t know what exactly he did in Iraq, but I know he’s one hell of a shot. . .

My grandfather fought in WW1. He was involved in the Third battle of Ypres also known as the battle of Passchendaele. Wish I got to know him better but he passed when I was 6 years old. I do know that he didnt like talking about the war.

That reminds me, Great-Grandfather was a Medic WWW1. . .

Yeah, my grandfather didn’t talk much about the war either, accept about all the stuff Hitler kept in the Eagles Nest

My Dad served 22 years in the Air Force and retired an E-8.  He spent 3 years in Vietnam and Laos.  My Stepdad is a retired Marine Colonel that fought in Vietnam, Panama, Desert Storm.  He spent weeks fighting in the vicious Battle of Khe Sanh until he got shot.  He doesn't like talking about it much, but I saw him interviewed by Mike Wallace on 60 minutes and he was emotional talking about the horror of being there and seeing so many guys go down. I spent a little over 4 years in the Navy as an air search radar repair guy.  The most exciting place I saw was Guantanamo Bay where I got shot at by the Cubans for sailing my boat too far down the river close to their checkpoint.
