Just an observation on one of, maybe the major causes of the Ethnocentric group of Trump Haters, (heh we should start calling them Trumpist & referrer to Trump Hate as Trumpism to call them out, confuse, & trigger them, then sit back watch the fallout )
While he had many flaws, Obama,(from a technical aspect) was an excellent speaker. Probably the best President at
technical speaking in our lifetime. Content withstanding, spoke eloquently, with a calm, gentle, yet, firm, paternal style. This assuredly gave the image of the “cool father that will protect and provide for them”. Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if there were people sending him letters asking advice one would ask a father.
Then comes Orange Man Awesome. Now, if he fired anyone, I wish he’d fire his public speaking coaches. The way he will end a statement on a fade clearly is to evoke sincerity, the way he frequently repeats (mostly) adjectives 3+ times (many, many, many) to stress a point is obvious & annoying, his regular hand movements to stress & animate also becomes annoying & distracting.
However, & assuredly a big part of what piss people off, he doesn’t act like a father, but like an owner, CEO, CFO, even upper management that’s in a board, shareholder, or meeting, (which is what he was/is). This could be seen as giving the image of one being at a work, in a high level meeting and the owner/high level mgt is giving status updates on the current state, projects, quarterly performance/projections etc. We all know (at lease those of us who have been in these), that there is an aura of: productivity, accountability, responsibility, expectations, etc. We also know if you any questions you ask then in a way that defers to them, yet shows confidence, (“when x happened in the past weve done y, should x happen now should we still do y or would you prefer to develop a unique approach”), not say “Youre an evil moron, you don’t know what you’re doing I KNOW x will happen”, I’ve never, nor have heard someone below upper management talk to, about openly criticize upper management directly or publicly to that level. At some level, we all know if we could get to where they are we would be, or if trying to get there to shut up & learn, as they are better at this &!have more info available than us.
Which begs the question, did the calm, inclusive, feeling Barrak Cleavers speaking have a bigger effect than realized and when with a world wide trend of delusional narcissism blend with victimhood that an expectation that a President is to be “just one of us”? Then Trump when came in with a Owner/CEO style of “here’s the update, here’s the plan going forward, the competition has done this, here’s how we’ll counter, now get back to work”, that expectation was FAR from met.
Now, we know there is far more to Trumpism, but perhaps when they say things like “the way he talks!”, is really about the notion that the “President should be just like me” has them thinking he IS just like them & not the normal “like or dislike, wish this would or wouldn’t happen” typical healthy thoughts & the basic fact “The President a President for many reasons, I’m/we’re not, 99+% of us won’t be, I’m/we’re not equal” drives them (further) insane
Well, workin on this off and on turned into ramblin, but anyway just a thought
