Tuesday's Capitals Celebration Parade
« on: Friday June 08, 2018, 06:29:57 PM Eastern »
Who's going?

I'm having a friend who has over the last couple years become a crazy Caps fan come out with me.  We're trying to find a wheelchair he can push me in because I am in no shape to be going anywhere, but I don't want to miss this.

I would be great if some of us could meet up and celebrate together.

This is so awesome!  Even though I am very sick right now I am not missing the parade on Tuesday.  This has been at the top of my bucket list longer than anything.

I really hope to see some of you at the parade.

Please post here if you are going to the party!

It's questionable, making the fans go downtown at the same time as the regular morning rush hour on the inadequate metro system is horse pucky.

If anyone is going downtown just for the parade I'd highly suggest they either drive in at 4am or be on the first possible train in the morning. The only way it's going to be anything but a cluster fuk is if OPM says unscheduled leave is approved

It's a commute for me and while I'm not that big on any parade my son insisted that we go.  Unfortunately he has an exam he can't miss.  I'm still considering it but he would be holy pissed if I went without him.
What's up babes...

I'll be there.  Let me know if you're going and I will communicate with anyone interested in meeting up. We're going straight down to the staging area on the mall near 7th street.  I picked a few Championship hats, those cool charcoal gray Championship T-shirts.  The T-shirts are really classy looking. The cap is equally sweet. The T-shirt photo does not do the t-shirt justice IMO.

I don't live in DC =p

Got work plus it doesn't make sense to take a day or two off from work to make the trip. Plus I feel like the parade is for the local fans. Even though I love the Caps just as much as any of you guys, I feel like it would be weird for an out of towner to come by lol

Take some videos and post em here so I can watch though!

I was playing the "what if" game myself..  "If" I got to Va., how would we actually get to the parade? Last time I was on "the lawn" was in 96' for the 4th of July. We parked in the grass at the end of 23rd and Constitution, threw the big cooler of beer off the truck, onto the top of a skateboard and straddled/rode it across the street to the party /concert going on beside the Lincoln Memorial.. Something tells me that's not happening these days?

Long crowded subway rides, don't really appeal.. And that's "if" I could find someone who wanted to ride 11 hours up, hang out for a few and ride 11 hours back..

Damn, where are you? Tennessee, South Carolina?  That is a long way.  I don't blame you. I will be taking pics and video.  I'll post some.

It is sad how things have changed. I used to work within 3-6 blocks of the White House for a long time at various places. I remember when you could drive ride up to and past the White House front fence and gate. I went to school just a few miles away in Annandale, VA.  I used to bring my uncased high powered rifle to high school and keep it in my locker. No one even took a second look at me for it. We've been played for fools allowing this unnecessary police state to grow up around us.  I do see the world putting these things back soon.

11 hours is actually an optimistic estimate.. Central Florida, bout an hour south of Daytona Beach.  But yea, I've heard it's all changed big time since 9/11..

I will be there, wouldn’t miss it.  I am not sure where I will be but hope to get as close to 7th street as possible.  I  guess I will take Metro from Alexandria, definitely not driving.  Can’t wait.

I'm in.

I'm gonna grab a couple work buddies (one a Red Wings fan I'm forcing to shut up and fake a smile) and head over.

Where and when are y'all meeting up?

I have one of this fans, also named DC ;)
My customer is not sympathetic to the parade, with them being located in NE so they won’t be approving any time off for this.
The one time I’m in the area but otherwise booked.
Can’t wait to see pics, and we’ll have to try to plan a forum party to celebrate later as a big crew.
Impossible to kill; many have tried, all have failed.

Have a great, great time to all who are making the journey to the parade!

My husband is working, can't go, and my girlfriend Caps fan is also working and cannot go.  The idea of making the trip myself (long car ride to Metro, Metro to parade and then back again) is deterring me.  But it's okay, I will be watching on tv the whole day and soaking in the continued non-stop tv/radio coverage of the team (which is so refreshing).

At the parade. Photos later because Internet sucks. It’s an ocean of red. UNBELIEVABLE. Perfect weather.
