Agreed. If they go up 3-1 I can't see them squandering it. Vegas is going to be desperate, gotta find a way to dig deep and exceed their intensity.

I wonder about that.  Vegas simply plays a frenetic game, and it has cost them at times as long as the Caps play intelligently and pay attention to details.  If desperation creates even more insane levels of play, it may hurt them more than it helps.  There's a point where you're trying so hard that you lose track of what you really need to do.

Thought more about the game last night and a couple more observations:


Pat Sejak?  I don’t know how much of this they showed on TV, but trotting out Pat Sejak to do the intro  of the players was really lame. His little story-time wasn’t what we needed.


Orlov- I’m wondering if he is hurt. He just didn’t seem to be skating that well and was just off his game.

It wouldn't surprise me if all the defensemen are significantly nicked up by this point.  The top 4 (including Orpik) have played a lot of minutes this year (Orpik not quite as much, but still a lot for his age and wear and tear).  Sooner or later the beating will take its toll.  I thought, and said as much earlier in the season, that my big concerns with the Caps were overuse of Carlson and Orpik, but Niskanen and Orlov have been worked hard too.

I tend to agree.  Leave the BS to Vegas.  Let's just play hockey.

I was listening to 106.7 yesterday. They had a sports writer from Vegas on, is an old acquaintance of whoevers show it was. The Vegas guy said he watched their practice yesterday and said the guys were hanging their heads a bit. This is Vegas's first back to back loss and the Caps are clearly in their heads a little bit.

Now is not the time for the Caps to think "we've got them" or to get cocky. Vegas will PUSH tonight. The Caps need to exceed their push and feed off the crowd energy. Play SMART and PHYSICAL and stick to the plan.
