Thanks but I don't shove things up my ass.

It's Cup of bust for me.  "Progressing" to the third round is empty without a Cup.  Success is success.  There is only one winner.  All others fail.  "Progress" is what those who lose console themselves with.

Don't get me wrong, sending the pens home is gratifying as hell, but it still doesn't scratch that itch.

While I agree with you, it doesn't scratch that itch, I feel that metaphor is a bit too simple for what actually happened. The mental aspect of us getting past the second round was a big deal to our core. The only three players on our roster who have tasted a conference final heading into this were Nisky, Orpik and Eller. A big reason the Pens were able to eventually win Cups is deeper playoff runs. Most of the quality playoff teams have it. It's just by nature the longer you go at that high of a level the more accustom your guys are to dealing with it.

Acknowledging that we finally have overcome the hurdle doesn't necessarily mean we are happy with losing in the conference finals. Only that regardless of what happens, this teams narrative changes this season. For how long things have stayed the same with this group, it's just refreshing to finally be able to take a breath and realize that. You could see that on some of the players face after the win too. Ovechkin especially, but Carlson too, the coaching staff big time. Trotz fit in here so well because he was just as snake bitten as we were with 2nd round curse nonsense.

But it's still obviously about this group coming together and making the most of this run and trying to Raise the Cup. Absolutely.

You must be a relative noob.  If there is no cup then it's all for naught.  I'm not satisfied with a conference final or a finals appearance.  We want the world and we want it..... NOOOOOWWWWW.

Enjoyed watching the game over breakfast and lunch again today!
Thought perhaps the funniest moment was conversation between the 'experts' and Doc (very late in the game) where they all agreed that the game's winning goal would probably be a flukey, puck-luck type goal rather than a mistake that would lead to a turn over and an offensive rush.
Made me smile and knew that the irony was too delicious not to share with everyone.

yea, Kuzy picking Cindeys pocket and taking it all the way in was a tad apropos

While us shutting Cindy down in the final was probably a top highlight for me as well, I feel like my entire highlight of this series was us making Phil Kessel look like a frustrated try hard, and making Carl Hagelin look like he wasn't even playing. Those two players lit us up the last two playoff years, and Hagelin especially even though didn't play the whole series in the games he was in he wasn't even a factor.

It was Crosby and Guentzel for the part of the series the Pens played good, and even then...in Game Six those two players were almost invisible as well. So much in the media now is being talked about how the Pens didn't play at their level, but as far as I'm concerned, Kempny, Nisky, Orpik, Eller, Beagle, Chiasson, go down the line of our underrated defensive guys and grittier players that most of us here put way more stock in that just stars. Yeah our stars were scoring, but Trotz had enough guys pulling the systems rope effectively to neuter the so called "fast" offense of the Penguins.
