before they asshats in charge made rows C and D over priced VIP, I would get tickets 3-4 times a year for row C behind the players bench, was always very enentertaining pretty much the entire game. But I'd bet the fans behind the officials bench get quite a show for certain games, like Caps vs Hens in the playoffs

DSP was seriously bent out of shape. He's playing with some edge to his game and I like it. Certainly should have drawn a penalty when he got tripped driving to the net and banged his shin up on the post.
Good to see him chip in a goal too. Keep it up DSP!

Re:  The Wilson hit.

It's Wilson.

It's the Penguins.

He unquestionably hit Doumolin in the head.

The only question is how many games the suspension will be.

The only reason he might get a game is that little bit of shoulder lift and chicken wing at the end of the hit.
But Dumoulin certainly turned into it. Wilson was low, Dumoulin turned and ducked lower and cowered from the onrushing freight train GR8.
Could be a game for Wilsoning but I won't be surprised if it's nothing.
Wilson held his line, didn't alter his course. Looks bad in super slo mo but in real time speed it looks like a hockey play.

Holtby got an assist on that Vrana PPG

Holts now has 3 career points in the post season, and 6 PIMs

FYI (you may already know this) the Capitals removed row D from VIP status effective next season.  I guess maybe they were having trouble selling those seats as VIP??  Ted Lenses wouldn't forego revenue if he didn't have a good business reason for it.

if you consider marketing a good business reason. . . .

Those VIP seats are another example of Ted being clueless about his fans, but ditching them ALL of them would show his mistake.

I don't understand how the blatantly-biased Penis McGuire is allowed to cover Penguins games. During the break when they were looking at the goal that was disallowed, he was showing Crosby on his tablet where the puck was.......

The explanation I got from my rep was that they wanted the lounge downstairs to be less crowded. There were quite a few complaints about how busy it gets down there, but not sure if that was the reason....

  that may not be completely bullshit, but more than likely they just picked the complaint that made them look the best.

Well, it certainly appears that I was wrong here.  Apparently Wilson isn't even going to have to face a hearing, and no penalties will be enforced.

I figured that because of Wilson's rep and who the opponent was, that circumstances were going to dictate some kind of punishment.

Perhaps we ought to cool our jets on favoritism shown to the Penguins.  This past game, between the Wilson hit and the disallowance of a second Penguins goal, was a case where Pittsburgh definitely did NOT get the benefit of the game's most questionable situations.

Believe me when I say that we here are all stunned at the fairness of the referees so far this series. This is NOT normal, not even close to normal.  My thinking is that maybe the NHL has decided it would make a nice Cinderella ending to the Alex Ovechkin story for him to win a cup and this may be his last chance at it.  After all, it makes no sense to put all your eggs in one crybaby basket of Sindy Crosby.

As I stated somewhere earlier in this thread it felt really weird to watch a post season Caps Hens game with fair refs. Very weird indeed.

I did not expect any further action on Wilson's hit on Dumoulin. It was pretty obvious he did not target him and  that Dumoulin's own actions led to the hit being what it was. Again, more fair play by the NHL.  This one I thought would have been very unfair if they blamed Wilson for it.
Be careful what you ask for America; you just might get it.

I'll reserve saying the anti bias is gone when the series is over.. 1 game is hardly a trend. Very surprised they didn't string up Wilson though.. Like Stealyourfaceoff said, could of easily been a game for "Wilsoning"

But the non goal? That would of been some MAJOR bullshit if they'd called that a goal (afterwards).. If the refs miss the thing going in on the ice, there better be a very clear and precise video of it going ALL THE WAY IN.. Not a magnified, blurry view from the side where it might be white ice or it might be snow.. Now, had they called it a goal on the ice, that would of been what they had to roll with as well, imo...

If what you [and others] say about the favoritism to the Penguins over the years and your surmising about what the NHL has "perhaps decided" about the way the playoffs would "be nice to go" this year is even remotely true, then what is the point of investing yourself as a fan?  Such manipulation would put the NHL only a few steps above pro wrestling.

I will say this:  If the Caps were to make it to the finals against the Vikings, IMO they'd be in serious trouble.  If there was a game I saw this year where the Caps were clearly outclassed in a way that had nothing to do with individual game motivation, it was the game against Vegas.  They seemed to be motivated in that game, but they were struggling to stay in it to the extent they did.  I realize it was only one game, and June is not regular season, but boy, those two teams did NOT belong on the same ice.

How long have you been a hockey fan? Yes there is a conspiracy theory that the Pens get calls go their way on a regular basis. None sure if a specific team gets the benefit of the doubt but there are certain players that definitely get calls go their way more often than not.
If you watched the Caps all season you would have seen them look like they didn't belong in this league several times. I thought the games they looked out classed was one against Philly, one against Nashville and one against Colorado.
    BTW, who are the Vikings

https://zumto.com/search-gifs/4221716809001  <-----Is that a goal?

That picture brings up a very good point. When you look at the puck from in front of the goal you have to factor the thickness of the CLEAR ice. I was fairly certain that no goal puck view that everyone zoomed in on had a few things worth mentioning. The white we could see was only between the side, not center, of the puck. The center portion was obscured by a lot of snow, and the it is the center portion that is most likely to have remained on and not behind the goal line. As the animation you point out above shows the angle we saw could not possibly be conclusive due to ice thickness being a factor making it less likely the puck fully crossed over the goal line. Though IMO all these things clearly were not enough to overrule the call on the ice, the fact is that Holtby did a great job covering up the puck enough so that we really have no  idea how far back it went before he stopped it and 'maybe' pulled it back before the cameras could see it. It could have been a goal. How many times have the Caps been robbed of goals in important games? Plenty. We were due and 'maybe' we caught a break a for once. I'm just very happy to see the league made the correct call. We too often have seen them make blatant calls against us in similar situations.  This is a nice change to have fair calls in an important series.

As many of you may recall the last couple years that the obvious bias very nearly caused me to quit watching the NHL. If it were not for my friends on the forums and my fondness for the Caps players I surely would have quit watching.

I hope we beat the Vikings and win the Heisman Trophy this year!  ;)

I'll not easily forget the non-call on the obvious trip behind the Caps net that DIRECTLY lead to a Hens goal during their Game 1 five minute spurt.
Same with DSP being tripped while driving the net in Game 2.

Refs sure missed the slash last night on the little ball of hate in Tampa.

Let's face it, it is only marginally better than pro wrestling.
