Oof. About what we expected. Caps really can not compete with Colorado. I mean they have more talent all the way around, couple of the best players in the league, the leading goal scorer and points guy, well coached, good goal tending and are firing on all cylinders this year. We only stand a chance to be in the game because this is hockey and you just never know how the biscuit is gonna bounce.
Honestly it really did look like we were just trying to kill off a penalty and survive the time until the penalty was over....but like the whole game. We were chasing the puck most of the game. We had some decent scoring chances that didn't go, but so did the Avs....about 8x as many.
Sandin looked bad, but this is not a situation he is gonna look good....his game is skating and moving the puck up, but when the other team is faster and he has to box out or heaven forbid fight for a puck behind his own net...or actually defend, he is gonna get exposed. He is a skill and stick check guy, not an outwork out-muscle the other guy. Carlson plays pretty much the same way despite his size.
I thought Chisolm looked good - skated well, etc. I didn't think he was that mobile. I'd play him over TVR any day. If you want to give TVR a game...sit Carlson - he looks like he needs rest. Carlson had a little more step at times yesterday (especially compared to previous game) but he just looks tired to me.
I thought Lindgren played pretty well. I wonder if they started him cause he more of a scrambler and figured that was needed knowing what we were gonna face.
