The ‘25-‘26 boredom thread..

Rookie camp started today in Annapolis. So, new season new thread. I don’t make the rules.

It appears everyone is %100 to start the season, except Fehιrvαry. He’s still recovering from the knee issue/surgery that had him miss the playoffs.

I saw a preseason guess as to the position of the clubs this season, and the Caps were projected 4th in the Metropolitan Division, with the comment that they over performed as a team last season and will regress to the mean this year.

Probably accurate. Hope not though! But at some point, Ovi will stop scoring 30-40 goals and at that point I don't see where they make up the difference.. That's a lot of goals to make up for.

So let's start the prediction of the Ovi goal count this year.  I'll start with 23.  I would actually like him to score more, but I want him to retire after this year and if he scores 30 or more, I think he comes back.

The only thing of note I’ve seen so far is this “incident” predates his employment with the Capitals.

I expect the Caps will be worse this year.  They did over-perform last year.

They will come in 3rd in division, but earn a wildcard spot

Ovi will score 32 goals this season

mitch love...oof i saw this but could not find any info on it.

and yes, bored AF, skins also over-performed last year I think, and the Nats...OOF.

I saw a comment that Protas still isn’t %100 after getting his foot cut last season, but he’s close. And OV is not skating for the second day in row due to a lower body injury.

Caps at Bruins Sunday at 5pm. The projected lines per Sammi..

Here's what the game group line combinations looked like. The lines are the order in which they skated.

Brandon Duhaime-Nic Dowd-Ethen Frank
Sonny Milano-Hendrix Lapierre-Anthony Beauvillier
Ivan Miroshnichenko-Henrik Rybinski-Bogdan Trineyev
Lynden Lakovic-Eriks Mateiko-Spencer Smallman

Declan Chisholm-Trevor van Riemsdyk
Calle Rosen-Vincent Iorio
Leon Muggli-Ryan Chesley

Logan Thompson
Garin Bjorklund

I'm really just hoping for two things this year. First, that we see the emergence of some of our prospects including a couple that just shock us and unseat some veterans. I wasn't that impressed with Leonard at the end of last year, but it probably wasn't fair to him to throw him in like that.  However, the thing that I was most disappointed in him, was his size. I thought he was a lot bigger and stronger. Maybe he will still grow a little, but he is definitely not big.

The other thing I am hoping for is that they just let the Carlson contract expire and give him a nice sendoff if he wants to keep playing.  I'm mostly afraid that at the end of the year, that they will give him a one year deal, granted at much lower money, so he can "mentor" some guys. Not a good idea.

I watched some of the interviews from 1st or 2nd day of camp...someone asked Carlson if there were any talks with team about after this year he said NO.  Then someone asked again later if gave any thought to future and he said "I'm definitely not done"  so that gives a glimpse of what he is thinking.

I missed the game, watched the 5 min highlights. TVR the only Cap with a negative +/- (-1).  That's hard to do in a 5-2 win but i did see him on and looking lost for both the Boston goals
