I we can't stop them scoring on us, we need to put more shots in their net and stop fannying about.

Time to see what the damage is....   I expect Protus will be in for the next game.

God this game pissed me off.  No fucking urgency, no hitting, no forechecking, horrible passes to nobody or the other team and then we take out our own best player.  I knew from the opening faceoff we were going to lose.  The puck was dropped and went toward Montreal's end and Dowd was skating back toward our own end.  This is just horrific coaching.  Terrible, dreadful.  To top it off we directly assisted on two of their goals and tipped in another.  Yea, the refs were horrendous but we deserved to lose in every way. We looked like the nervous newbies who had never been in a playoff game.  I've seen this story so many times before.  I wouldn't be surprised at all if we lose the next three games.


PS- for the love of God keep Carlson off the PK.  Sandin should be scratched, too.

I just rewatched the 9min condensed game.  Man we were bad, but there were really bad passes and bad bounces that did us in.
1st goal - we have a chance and just fail to clear the puck (McMike) and they shoot and score through a screen.
2nd goal - Dowd actually wins important draw and Carlson just feeding Suzuki is in the slot is laughable
3rd goal - Sandin gently passing up to...I guess Ovi on the blue line and the guy jumpin in to steal and feeds Caufield..(maybe Sandin was passing to Roy to further bump out...and this may be an issue of them not playing together normally)
4th goal - Duhame actually makes a perfect tip-in between Thompson's legs.
5th goal - Raddysh actually mishandles a pass out our blue line and feeds there rush up ice for essentially a 2 on 1, then Stromer crashes into Thompson to put exclamation point on the  .  So rewatching this...Stromer crashes his skate boot directly into Thompsons jewels as the initial point of contact so I'm hoping that is the extent of the lower body issue.  The cross check to the throat and riding him to the ice might be another issue.
6th goal - they dump it in and the guy who dumps it is 1st to the puck (ahem Carlson watches) then we coast about while they make 3 good passes and both D (ahem...Carlson, Sandin) are out of position, they shoot upstairs on Lindgren and you score.  Why every single team in the NHL did not figure this out all year is beyond me.  If Thompson is out..our season is over.  Lindgren certainly helped the Caps over the past two seasons but he's not a top tier goalie.  He is weak upstairs as he leaves way too much exposed up top...it's just the way he plays.
We actually had 3 nice goals of our own, but the rest was truly 
Carlson and Sandin should never ever ever be on the ice together.  Carlson has to be hurt, he has never been this bad...he can't keep up with the play and is lagging around even in his own end.  I hope it's a nagging injury because if this is just the 35 year old Carlson, I can't wait to see him all next year at 36.

Apart from all the major Fup's as already stated, the one thing we didn't do this game that I believe helped us win game 2, was the checking, or lack thereof.   Letting them buzz around and goad us all game is our own fault.

Also, the disparity of shots on goal was shocking.
