Not to make excuses for the Caps' recent less than stellar play, but in addition to the 895 distraction, the Caps' last 4 home games have been single games between road trips.  In a certain travel sense at least, the Caps are on a season-ending 12-game road trip, since the stops in town to play single games before heading out of town again is almost like just another stop on a trip.  The only real exception to that was the 3 days before the Carolina game.

Columbus is 6 pts out of final WC spot with 4 games remaining...they desperately need two wins both these back to back games vs the Caps.
Only thing the Caps could possibly gain is the President's Cup, which we likely won't get, so....
