Nice win against a very solid team. Caps outplayed them. Could have had 6-7 goals easy.....missed a couple-three WIDE open nets.
I dunno about Protus on the top line, but he has shown hustle especially getting back on D - maybe they put him there to make up for Ovi. Ovi looks fine..he's not gonna blow any doors off, but he dont look 39 either....well except for the gray hair.
Strome to me has been the best player on the ice for both games...he is always around the puck and in the play. I never really credited him with being a 1C, but he continues to drive the play and create scoring chances.
Vrana scored - Yay...and then was invisible the rest of the night along with the rest of the third line. I know they got limited minutes especially with all the penalties, but Lappy got to step it up or move McMike to 3C.
McMike has looked decent...he goes to the net. He looks better to me so far.
Willy...well he's a stud. He looks good on the PP. Hope he gets 15-20 PP goals this year.
Debuois....mostly not great. He hasn't been bad, but he ain't no 8.5 million dollar man so far. He and Willy got to get chemistry figured out...they both here for the long haul (probably)
Both new D have looked like improvements to me. Chicklets has looked good and been in the play. I didn't know anything about him or seen him play much
Thompson has looked very steady as well - what a friggin bargain that dude is. I prefer him to Lindy from the little we saw in preseason.
Dowd looks like he has lost a step...not that he was ever a speed demon. I do like his 4th line though....they doing their job cycling and forechecking and hard to play against.
What a shit schedule to start the year, but GO CAPS!
