After soiling the bed in round 1, Hellebuyck gets a shutout in round 2.

Good day Caps fans. I decided to sell my prized Ovechkin rookie. It is on Goldin Auctions right now

The Cup Platinum 7/25 2005-06 Rookie. I will keep the rest of my vast OV card collection and have I enoyed this era of Caps hockey immensely. Go Caps, take game 3.

Vegas wins game 3 with less than 1/2 a second left in regulation. Edmonton knocked it in themselves. Edmonton leads the series 2-1. I don’t care for the Vegas hockey team, but I’d love to see this go 7 games.

Another thing that drives me crazy is when players get pinned in their own zone for extended time in either the first or the third period and are clearly gassed - and the two top guys stay out the whole time. Last night McMike was so tired he was just kinda standing there for about a minute, making no impact on the play - and he could have easily skated to the bench and somebody fresh would have jumped on.   If you watch that replay, its just stupid.

And I still don't get why they don't go man to man on the two point guys and pressure them?  Carolina wouldn't know what to do and we would stop all these possessions where they just cycle in our zone all night.

Florida evens the series 2-2.
2-0 score sounds close, but Florida flat out dominated the Leafs the entire 1st period.  I could have been 4 or 5 to nothing.
Watching both teams with the puck, the Caps would so outclassed its not funny.  I mean Carolina is soundly better than the Caps but they are pretty dry boring style of play.  Every other team still in it just looks leaps and bounds better than the Caps.

FFS - HIT HIM!!!
SHOOT - THE - PUCK

Woll put on a goaltending clinic.  He made big save after big save and played the game so smartly getting way out of the blue paint and cutting down the amount of net that shooters could look at.  If there's one mistake modern goalies make, it's staying glued to the net way too often and leaving lots of options for shooters, particularly in the upper part of the net.  Thompson made that mistake on Carolina's third goal although Carlson offered no support at all.  Woll had no prayer on the 1st goal and was left out to dry by his d-men both going to the guy without the puck on the second one.  He was first star of the game, win or lose.

That's a coaching failure.  I hardly find it reassuring, either, that Carberry thinks we played a good game.  We played 1 1/2 decent periods and stunk for the other half.

Yes - I love Carbs but think he has had a few things that could/should have been addressed better. I'm wondering if Carbs is reluctant to use the forwards to pressure up high as he knows our D-Men are undersized and slow to react, so he doesn't want them exposed too much.  If so, I think that is the wrong strategy.  They need to be all over the point men.

I actually don't think the Canes are a better team.  When the Caps and Canes both play well I think they are about even.  The problem has been that the Caps have not played well.

Let's stay positive! Tonight is a win!!
