I know yesterday it was posted that Mantha will be the scratch, but this afternoon I’m seeing that Aubé-Kubel will be the scratch instead of Mantha. Not sure which source is correct at this juncture. Going to have to wait till closer to game time, which is still about 6 hours away..


Also, at this juncture I don’t see Oshie or Alexeyev officially on the IR list. Not that they need to be when the team has cap space to play with.

Didn't get to see the last game versus the Oilers [which given the recent US holiday] I am THANKFUL for.

I don't understand Philips on the second line and Mantha on the 4th line.  Seems to me you'd just put Mantha in for Osh.  Was NAK so bad last game that they needed to replace him?

I don’t think NAK was any worse that anyone else on the team against Edmonton. Maybe it’s getting another look at Phillips against a perceived weaker team. I like the kid, but I think he’s just too small to make it. He’s smaller than St Louis.

FWIW...Phillips is a waste of a spot on the 4th line.  Mantha is not.  ALthough NAK is a better 4th liner than either IMO.  Not sure Mantha has the scoring touch for the second line (on a real contender), but he has had quite a few chances better this year than previously.  Only knock on PHillips is his size.  He does have a nose for the net and is driving the net most of the time and in the offensive play.  His size makes him a liability most places on the ice.

Technically speaking, Caps.com was not wrong today. The game is listed as being on Monumental 1, but, Caps pregame is on Monumental 2, because there was a basketball game on 1. They are still doing postgame for that.
