Florida, Boston, Vancouver, Colorado....
Looks like the Caps will extend their losing streak a while longer ...to at least a 9 game losing streak.
my team  :'(

Gotta make ya wonder what the # is before they can Carbery? Im having a hard time believing GMBM constructed the least talented team in the NHL, but I guess it's possible.

To be fair, the Caps are currently 23rd out of 32, so not the worst in the league. However, team management does not appear to have the balls to eliminate a couple contracts that need to be eliminated.

That 9-1-1 span fucked us. (out of a top 5 pick this year) I bet were bottom 2 or 3 since that point in the season.

I don't think they fire Carbury.  He was a hot candidate and has been in the organization. In fairness to him, he has been given a lousy team that was on the edge of the old-age cliff and that had no top prospects ready to go. I'm giving him a total pass this year and even next year.  He's gonna need some very quick development of some of the prospects like Miro and Leonard and a couple of surprises to make it more than the next couple years.

I like Carbs too. Just starting to wonder about the system. Im sure they expected a decline, but this offense is offensive. No only can't they score, they can't even get shots on goal.

That crosscheck to the head was bullshit. So he slapped it into the empty net? If you take offense, drop the gloves and challenge him if you're that petty. But to go head is chumpish. Hope they suspend him for 10.

The Caps did get 3 of 4 points against the two best teams in the league…

Give them credit, they played well the last two games.  Maybe gave away a point, but they did play well.
I was expecting to see a 7, 8, 9 game losing streak this week.

I too am interested to see what Carbs can do with a young group not burdened by bunch of old fucks with super inflated contracts
Keep a couple wiley old vets around and ship the rest off.

Short of Ovie, Willy, Strome, nobody is untouchable.  Dont just be sellers....FIRE SALE the whole squad
Im okay with keeping TJ even as his body fails him, cause he's got heart and would be a good role model to younger players...guy works his ass off (and doubt you could easily move that contract), but hey, i'd take a deal to move him too
and somehow Kuzy has found yet another way to drag this team down...now he's even more untradeable.  Fuck him, buy out his contract or retain salary, but ship his ass off to somewhere

Looking at the contracts, the Caps could really clear up their roster in the next few seasons...except for the D corps
(what was the point of signing TVR & Jensen to their 35/36?)  for a team ready for rebuild that makes no sense
If they must keep JC (and you know they will),. then send Jensen and TVR packing for couple pics.
I don't really mind them signing Protus for 5 years at his young age 23, but 3.3m a year for him is crazy.  What is that figure based on?

Id move Kemps if you could, bring up shephard...hes not a long term solution but he could play as well as Kemps for 1/5 the cost.  Split next year with lindy and shephard.
Bring up Lappy & Miro and let them play.  Id rather see Lappy than Kuzy at this point.
Iorio is close to ready as well, even though very young D

Ho hum

Yea, hopefully the last 2 games don't give them any stupid ideas. Just sell anyone you can! They really need to move Patches if possible (for the roster spot) and bring up Miro. Sgarbossa looks like he has legit play making skills. Need to get him a young winger to start gelling/getting NHL experience with. I don't want to hear about rookie/2way contracts and shit, just bring them up for keeps and let them play!

I think their signing of Protos for the bigger number was based on the assumption that the Salary Cap would go up a fair amount and a $3M player would not be as big of a deal - not sure I agree with that.

TVR is interesting. I think he was a guy they committed to back at the expansion draft as they protected him somewhat unexpectedly - so he has been one of "their guys".  However Carbs has been scratching him which is a bit unfortunate if they wanted to trade him.  I wish they had kept him playing and then traded him so they maybe could have gotten a second round pick - maybe. Now they will be lucky to get a third rounder.

I'm hoping Colorado blows their doors off so they don't get some crazy idea that they should be buyers at the deadline. I agree with Rich that they should sell off anything they possibly can - too bad they really don't have much that would bring any real return.

I don't know what Jensen (4m) or TVR (3m) did to warrant their contracts. Neither one is anything more than a basic defender that every team has 4 of. Why they got that kind of money is beyond me.

Milano is still listed on IR but did not participate in the morning skate due to illness. Also, some line changes this morning…

Sgarbossa and Kubel will be done in the Ozone and on their way back before Paches even gets to the blue line. lol Fucking slow asses still getting ice (and costing Ted bonus $) at this time of year is stupid. He looked decent for a hand full of games then went dormant like the rest of em'. Im gonna puke if Milano gets back and they scratch Sgarbossa or some other young player over Paches. Also gonna waste Wilson on the 4th line? Oof.

The old "throw shit at the wall and see if anything sticks, and even if it does we'll only give it one game before we scrape it off and throw it back again" strategy!!

Im still not happy with the way Laviolette handled the young guys here, but it’s becoming obvious his hands were tied in a lot of ways with this squad.

I think the 4th line is actually this 1st line - they just aren't going to make it official. It will be interesting to see the time each line gets.

I agree on Pacioretti.  The only reason I see to play him is if they can somehow unload him at the trade deadline and get something for him. I'm rooting for him to score a couple goals and get some stats.

I'm not sold on Milano.  He's another smurf guy that plays great for a period with super high energy then settles back in to mediocrity.  I say bring up anybody we can from Hershey and give them a shot!  Why not bring up the fastest skater in the AHL - Ethan Frank?  He must not have much else going for him.

Qualifying for the pole takes place tonight, under the lights. The race is Sunday during the day.
