That’s kinda what I was thinking, about OV. If true, that the injury is not related to the Hurricanes game, it would explain him not playing well. It’s not the first time we’ve seen this in his career.

Dowd and Strome have been decent on face offs. Kuzy is atrocious. I imagine McMike is prolly upside down on his stats too, but hope he improves with experience and time. Kuzy...ooof, no hope

Kuzy takes faceoffs like he's injured or scared he might pull a muscle. Fucking weird. No energy at all, just a soft wiff at the puck. It's painfull to say he's our worst overall forward. The only thing he does good, currently, is play defense.

One thing I really don’t like about the faceoff stat.. it appears it just counts who wins at the dot, not necessarily who skates away from the circle with the puck.

Seems like an overpay, $3.375m x 5, but what do I know. Everyone seems to be getting more than I think is reasonable. Good for him!

That’s about a $2.5M raise for Protas, he is currently making just under $800K. Caps still have to resign Malenstyn, McMike and Aubé-Kubel. Other contracts that are up this season are Phillips, Mantha, Pacioretty and Edmundson. Mantha is only 29 and finally seems to have found his game though I’m not sure he’s worth $5.7M.

If Pro got 3.4m x 5 I'm scared to see what they give McMike. Gonna have to be 4 ish, imo? Maly should get a small raise, probably 1.5ish?? Just seems like everyone is getting more than expected. Jensen and TVR got WAY more than I was thinking.. Salary cap only goes up so much, not sure how teams are handling it..

I thought Wilson got the low end of what he was worth, but he signed for 5 years.. Now Pro gets a big raise but still 5 years? Weird.. 3.4m x 3 would seem more in line, but I guess they think he's gonna be a semi-stud. He's played really well this year, but the stat sheet is still bare (3 in 43 games) on the goal side.

3.375m per year for Protas is a little high - well seems high to me, but if he blossoms then you made a good deal and have him for the entirety of his prime for a very reasonable rate. Dude is 23 years old....locking him up from 24-29 gets all his prime years. If he shits the bed, then your paying double what he's worth for a 3rd-4th liner

The Caps are going to have to dump salary before next season starts, and I don’t think a $5.7M contract is going to be enough. I think the team needs to dump a $7.8M contract.

I recall such a goal, but don’t remember which teams were involved. Backy did put one in his own net once vs Pittsburgh, that was at least 10 years ago.
