So I watched the entire Toronto/FLA game and Toronto pretty much controlled the 1st ten minutes yet the announcers were saying they were getting outplayed

Am I smoking crack or is it the bonehead announcers?  FLA did play solid and physical and had certainly scored more goals, but Toronto had the better scoring chances for the most part...They just didn't score.  It wasn't like watching Jersey just outrun Boston the other night.

Anyone else watch the game and have an opinion?

I like that we signed ALexeyev.  NEED to sign Fever as well.
Apparently we also signed a 1 year ELC deal for Hardy Haman Aktell.  No idea who that is.

I don't see Caps affording Orlov.  They just won't part with Johnny Q.  Unless they offload Mantha and move Kuzy.

I'm pretty okay with the thought of Halpern as a head coach.  I worry he maybe doesn't have enough heat in him.
Maybe get Alan May on board as an assistant

I watched bits and pieces of Fla/Leafs last night, seemed like Fla had a slight advantage from what I saw

Am I reading this right...the Devils had a total of ONE shot on goal in the entire 1st period?

I didn’t see the 1st period of Devils vs Canes, but they looked out played most of what I saw.

Tarik ElBashir wrote an article in the atlantic, which is behind a paywall, trying to say it would be a good idea to rehire Boudreaux.

Love resigning Alexyev - would have liked a longer term if that was possible.  I too would like them to re-sign Fever and would be very happy if they could sign him to a 6 or 7 year deal, even if they have to overpay a little. We blew it on Seigenthaler, let's not let another really good young one get away!  It's unfortunate that Carlson's contract will probably prohibit this.

Not sure I like the Halpern possibility.  He is another of "their guys".  Typically, I like loyalty and going with ex-players, but the Caps need to breakout of that mentality and bring in some new blood - a much more aggressive coach.

Bummer my Oilers shit the bed last night.  I watched till midnight and couldn't hang for the 3rd period.  It was closer than the score would make it seam, but I didn't know Vegas had 5g (plus empty netter) in them.  Me thinks this wasn't the best goal-tending ever seen.
FFS the Oilers looked like the Caps in the 1st - control the puck in the o-zone, dance around with it, pass it around, skate it around the net and back to the point, but DON'T EVER, EVER, EVER ACTUALLY SHOOT THE FUCKING PUCK!.

Well....everyone except Draisaitl.  That MOFO knows what to do with it...SHoot it into the net.
Draisaitl with all FOUR Oiler goals last night; two PPG.  Yikes.  He has 11 playoff goals in what...6-7 games ?

Oh, and this was not even a great game to watch.  I mean there was lots of scoring, but Edmonton for sure was not at their best.  This was not anywhere near the level they played in previous games.  Can't say about Vegas - they played very solid last night, but I haven't watched them yet this year until last night.

yea, like I said, I wouldn’t mind seeing FL win it considering they never have, but it sucks the Leafs may lose in the second round

Yeah well Samsonov is part of the reason Toronto is down 2-0 in the series.  I would not say he's played badly, but you got to stop some of those that have gone in.  He made some excellent stops to keep Toronto in it, but only after they were already down.  He brain farted a couple times like his focus just wasn't there (shocker, I know).  Nothing that I would definitely say...HE HAS TO STOP that one (okay, I probably did actually yell that at the tv), but man it would have been a good time to stop that one.

Mostly....It looks like the Leafs just aren't in snyc.  They struggle to get out of the zone, they make bad passes, etc.  It doesn't look like they are in playoff gear a lot of the game.  They have stretches where they are, but not enough.  They looked better in the 1st round.

Oh...and yeah....Bobrovsky IS playing better than Sammy

What happened to the Devils team that played in the 1st round?
And guess what the Devils DON'T have....a reliable netminder (ahem...paging Mr Vanocek)
Oh, and the Norris candidate finalists have been announced.  Carlson made the list.  Oh wait that was Karlsson  :snicker:

Kansas cup race today at 3pm est. Should be a decent race. Kansas is one of the few tracks that's worn out, where the tires fall off and they run multiple grooves. Fastest line is usually on the wall. Tune in if yer bored! (Prolly go green around 3:15ish)

The Devils woke up. I tried watching some of the Miami Grand Prix, found it to be boring as hell. Now it’s 6pm, I gotta start making dinner and there’s 55 laps to go in Kansas. Yet one more nascar race I won’t see the end of.

Bummer.. Best race of the year so far! Gibbs guys systematically taking themself out of it as usual though.

edit: Holy shit what a finish! Hamlin ran him down 3x in the last 20 laps, rattled his cage on the last lap for the Dub!!!  :uh-huh:

Best race of the year! Even had a fight after! Bummer fucking security ruined it.. Chastain did get a nice right hook on Gragson though. Maybe they finish it next week?  :snicker:

seems like a reasonable response from Ross, kinda what the sport needs too, it’s gotten a tad stale..

I was at this race, I was never in hurry to leave the stands at Richmond because they would let people sleep it off in the parking lots, no rush to leave..
