Yeah, Go Cats. Fuck Boston.  Man there were some BS calls in that game - especially for a game 7.  I really didn't want a bad call to impact the series and one almost did.  Way to hang in there and overcome FLA.

ALso....watched Avs lose last night - I really wish the NHL would alter the offsides challenge rule.  Avs tied it early in the 3rd only to have goal overturned on an offsides challenge (AND IT WAS OFFSIDES), but it was pretty LONG before the goal was scored.  Need a time limit on how far back you can go or something.  THat's just a shitty rule.  I mean I know they want it to be right, but how is a missed offsides call any different than any other missed call, and they don't review/challenge those.

Not that I'm a Colorado fan, but Fuck Seattle.

At least FLA beat Boston, and Toronto beat Tampa. Crazy that two WC teams beat the top seed in the east and west.

I'm pulling for Devils tonight.

I'd really like for Seattle and Vegas to not advance further.

Agree on the offsides time limit!  I hated seeing Colorado lose. They have some phenomenal players.  Well, now we get to see Grubs and Sprong go for the Cup.

I'd love to see NJ take down the Rangers.  They have some great young players - courtesy of doing well in the lottery the last few years.  Maybe the Caps win the lottery!

They review all kinds of shit. If that's the route they're gonna take they should include a challenge for penalties/flopping. 2 Boston PP's last night were total bullshit flops.

Some news on the Russian kid front.. Prolly gonna see him next season!

The Dover 400 ran today. At bigger tracks the 400 would be miles and shorter tracks that would be laps. Which was it at Dover?

Both, 400 laps/400 miles. Those 500's at Dover were 5-6 hour marathons. Pretty good race today. Still too hard to pass, but at least a couple cars could do it.

The Devils shutout the Rags in game 7.

I watched the entire Devils game. They flat out dominated the Rags the entire game. It was almost embarrassing. The Devils are so fucking fast. All I could think is how bad the Caps would look against them. There were some shitty and missed calls in this game too. And if not for shitsterkin it would have been a total blowout.
Wow but the Devils ate going to be tough to beat in coming years. They are so fucking fast and they have what appears to be a stud young goalie too.
And I never heard SO MANY announcers mention shutout so many times in a game in my life starting about halfway through the 2nd period.
Trouba on the Rags flat out destroyed a guy at the blue line who had his head down (Meir)
Now ten years ago it was a clean hit but I watched it several times in slow motion and the MAIN point of contact was the head (face actually) There was not even a penalty called. Trouba did lead with the shoulder and did not get the elbow up but he put the shoulder right in his mush.
Tom Wilson would be suspended for half a season for the same hit.

I didn’t really care who won but hell I’m pulling for the Devils now. They are fun to watch. Devils Canes should be some fast fast games to watch. Devils are young but man they destroyed the Rags tonight with their speed

Side note. Lindy Ruff wins his first game 7 Ever as a coach

Other then the Caps still being alive, this was the best 1st round in the East I could of imagined.

Wilson gets 10-20 games for the (same) Trouba hit. Guess since they were killing a penalty it was ok though?

I tuned in in the 3rd and did hear "shutout" about 4x in very short order. lol The announcers never can hide that bias.  :snicker:

Im ready to find out who our next coach is.. (Keep Sutter far far away from here, please)

That hit Trouba made was brutal, and very borderline. Speculation is the Rags will like change coaches as well. The Caps do not want or need Gallant or Sutter.

Of the remaining teams, Vegas, Seattle and Florida have never won the Cup. I’d rather see Florida win out of those.

Speaking of shutouts   :raspberry:  Even the fucking clown show intermission squad -  the "lead guy" (Leavey I think) said shutout several times during the intermission.  I'm like WTF guys?.  I know it's superstition and all, but REAL hockey guys NEVER ever say that word unless you are WANTING to invoke the jinx.
I remember when our favorite dumbass eyeliner boy said it during a Caps intermission with Alan May, and May looked at him and shook his head and gave him the stink eye like..."you Dumb Mother Fucker, shut your hole before I ram my fist down your faggot mouth and knock that silly eyeliner right off your moronic face"
and....the goalie lost the shutout in the coming period.  I recall eyeliner boy caught a lot of flak from the fans (and everyone in the studio) for that.

I agree this has been an awesome 1st round.  Well, except that Vegas and Seattle advanced, but there have been some fantastic games and series.
I'd be fine with Florida getting a cup, but I don't think they have enough to get them there.  But then, I don't really see a dominant team left in the East.  The Devils played last night with some serious inspiration or something - they were all over the ice and won nearly ALL the puck battles...mostly cause they were the 1st to every loose puck, but I don't see them playing at that level for 12 more wins.  Canes are very solid but they have some scoring trouble.  Toronto is flakey - lots of talent, but not really all in sync.
I'm much more interested this year than other years.  Not sure why.  Maybe just the games have been good for the most part.  I usually just don't have much interest.  Maybe knowing the caps were done a month ago let some of the sting out so I'm not bitter about watching good teams play.
I don't dislike any of the teams left in the east.
IN the west...Edmonton is my fav, don't give a shit about Dallas, don't care for Seattle, and just dislike Vegas.  I think the 2018 SC finals clown show 30 minute opening ceremony silliness forever chaffed me with Vegas.

Rich - I've been touting NJ for a while. Their team speed and skill is off the charts. It helps that they got really lucky in the lottery, but they also made some very smart trades like getting Siegenthaler from us for a third round pick I think?  I hated it then and I hate it more now.

I have this theory that the Caps are going to move up in the draft lottery based on the fact that NJ came back in the last game of the season to beat us in OT and thereby moved us down in the standings by several spots - getting us more ping pong balls.  NJ has the lottery luck and I think we get the #1 pick and get Beddard!  Of course we would then need another couple of years with a top 3 pick to get to where NJ is!

It was nice to see the Whalers franchise get their first Cup, but don’t much care about them.

I'm with you Beags...I absolutely hated the Siegenthaler trade then and still do.  He was one of my favorite young D and I honestly thought he would be a difference maker.  Good size, good physical player and could still skate somewhat.

Ziggy's departure opened up opportunity for Fever to get much more playing time earlier and he has blossomed.  Fever has very well filled the role Ziggy was playing, but man it sure would be nice to have them both.  Just think how much more mobile and physical our D core would be with both Fever and Ziggy.

But you right....NJ is a bunch of speed freaks, and they can be impressive.  They are going to really destroy some teams in coming years.  Especially if their 19 year old rookie goalie can truly hang.  He looked pretty damn good the other night.  (Tells you something about Vanecek when you replace him with a 19 year old rookie in the playoffs.)

I could be happy with Toronto, FLA or NJ winning the east.  I'm really not a NJ fan, but they are fun.
I think Toronto is weak in net.  Not just cause it Samsonov, but.....it's Samsonov.  I'm not sure FLA is the same caliber talent as Toronto, but I'd sure as hell rather have a Bobrovsky in net than Samsonov.  Samsonov does have his moments - just not sure he can have them for a solid month that will be needed.
Same for Edmonton - not sure they've got their goaltending issues fixed from the last couple years let downs.

We shall see.

Florida goes up 1-0 over the Leafs.

Caps need to dump a couple big contracts this summer.
