Damn.  Poor Vrana.  Needs to skate out from under that cloud that developed over his career.  Frigging 20 minutes into his first skate?  Yikes/


How do you mess up a shoulder bad enough to need surgery in 20 minutes of skating?  Did he fall into the boards?  Did he get checked into the boards?  I would not think there would be checking 20 minutes into the 1st practice.
(Did he perhaps trip over his pouting lip?)  Okay, scratch that.  Not nice, but he DID wet his bed here so I didn't have much sympathy for him being traded to Detroit.  I did wish him well and hoped he'd find his game there.  Sucks to get hurt anyway.


What a bummer for him and Detroit both.

Not surprised by any of the moves or that Copely was put on AND cleared waivers.  Copely had a few moments where he shined, but I think he is pretty much an AHL caliber goalie.


Caps roster at 27 need to get down to 23, but with the Cap hit they realistically can only carry 21, MAYBE 22 depending on who the last 1 or 2 are.  With Backy a question mark, I assume if he is IR then his cap hit won't count but not sure what the rules are with IR and timing and roster and such.

I'm leaning toward leaving up McMichael and Fever.  That's a roster of 22 and Caps might not be able to swing that cap Hit.  Might put them couple hundred grand over with a 22nd man.
I don't know Irwin's play at all and he is a budget salary at $750k, but I'd just as soon give Fever that spot.  Although....if he is just on roster and never gets to play, then maybe better for him to actually play with the Bears.


We shall see.

For those of you taxpayers in Fairfax County...good to know your tax dollars are well spent.


The McLean Community Center is hosting a "family friendly" LGBTQ+ party on your dime.  It's open to those 6 and up.  Yeah, I want my 6 year old at this event.
But I guess you get better results if you start the LGTQ+ induction in the early years.

Now, we all know I'm an old white guy so therefore must be a bigot, racist, culturally insensitive and my input is thus null and void, BUT...
What would the uproar be if a government owned facility hosted a party to promote heterosexual family values and Christian values?  How about the nutzo Nazi groups?...or any other non "politically-correct" special interest groups?  I'm neither pro Nazi nor pro LBGTQ+, but I don't want either group hosting a "family friendly" event at a government owned facility.
Or any other special interest group for that matter.  Is this what the purpose of the county government is?  To promote the values of special interest groups?

So, since I am culturally "less special-abled" I had to look up what the + means in LBGTQ+.

• + (Plus): The 'plus' is used to signify all of the gender identities and sexual orientations that are not specifically covered by the other five initials. An example is Two-Spirit, a pan-Indigenous American identity.

• So, IF the + signifies all of the gender identities not specifically covered by the other five initials in the made up LBGTQ...Does that make me a + since I am a heterosexual?  OR is their all-inclusive + part of the acronym exclusive to those who choose to be something unidentified by their special interest acronym?  (aka...normal heterosexual)
  
  And now apparently I have to go look up WTF "two-spirit pan-indigenous American" means.

What's wrong with Baseball?


The second best team in the entire league of 30 teams after a full 162 games season (based on the record) is the LA Dodgers who have an astounding record of 106w 56L
puts them 1 game behind the Giants who were 107 55 and happen to be in the same division.


That's a full 10 games better than almost all other teams making the playoffs, yet they have to play a wildcard game to get in?


162 games is a ridiculous amount of games and to be 10 games better than other teams in the playoffs (and 28 games better than the next team in your division), and yet not get a full playoff chance is stupid.


I'm no Dodgers fan but that's dumb.


Dodgers are 18 games better than the Braves who are in.


Good thing I'm a Nats fan so I haven't had to contemplate any potential playoff unfairness in any serious nature in say....4-5 months.

Dodgers win their wildcard with a walk-off HR.  Pretty exciting...if you are a Dodger fan - or a baseball fan.


Which apparently I aint since I forgot the game was on and could have watched the conclusion after my delayed Caps win.


Good for the Dodgers though, they deserved to be in the playoffs with their record this year.


Trea Turner was 2 for 4.  Can't believe the Nats traded him away.  I realize they are now in rebuilding mode, but Trea's a guy you can build around.  Turner and Soto are two of the best hitters in baseball.  Not to mention Trea is super fast and a great SS.  WTF would you not hold onto him?
