When it's obvious the team isn't or can't generate any offense, pulling the goalie is pointless. The Caps were on the power play and it barely looked that way with the 6 on 4

   I haven't seen much of this Rangers goalie but he looks pretty good. He seemed to be in position all game and controlled rebounds very well, especially with the blocker.

    I don't care about empty net goals against. Everyone it's a last ditch effort to tie a game. The success rate isn't very high especially when you are down 2 goals.
So we lost 4-1 instead of 3-1.

Who said said it was about empty net goals. I call it being realistic and keeping moral up. The Caps didn't generate shit all day but magically they will in the last 2-3 minutes when down by 2? Title was luck that kept the Caps from being shutout today, not skill.

     Sorry but when you are down by 2 goals late in the game pulling the goalie is the thing to do. Just because a team hasn't had success 6 on 5 doesn't mean you give up on it. I doubt that will ever change.
   The problem was the first 57 mins that put us in this position.
Maybe we are expecting too much because this team had alot of success in recent years 6 on 5.

When the team has shown zero ability to generate any offense for 57 minutes, pulling the the goalie with 3:00 to go and down by two is not the thing you do. It is not a standard procedure throughout the league.


If they were down by one you take that chance for a lucky bounce to get a point.
