For those of us that actually watched Hunter on a regular basis, he wasn't a dirty player as his YouTube highlights would suggest. The only real black mark on his career was a certain post season hit against the Islanders

he said he didn’t know he had scored and I believe him 😇

I watched Hunter play on a regular basis. Probably more than anyone here because I watched him play with the Nordiques before he played for us. I grew to dislike him as a player before he played for the Caps which is probably why I had a hard time warming up to him when he played for us. I did start to like him but the Turgeon incident put a stop to that.
And yes he was a dirty player. He was a very unpredictable player. You never knew what he was going to do. Hits from behind, elbows, slewfoots, slashing, spearing. He was a good player. He played hard and physical but he wasnt a clean player.
I do feel he was a dirtier player when he played for the Nordique. Not sure if that is true or if I am being a bias Caps fan. Sorry guys, I really tried to like him. If he had started his career with the Caps  I probably would have a different opinion of him.

Lol I can't believe he said that. He coughed up the puck. Turgeon scored and was celebrating with his hands in the air and Hunter followed him for another 40 feet and took him out. That excuse was more embarrassing than the hit it self.

Here’s an example of Hunter’s intensity, targetimg and beating the hell outta one of the most spineless and truly  dirty players ever, and damn the refs too:

3 refs to save Ulf after he turtles. . . i’d of loved to see what of happened if they just let this one go and see when and if Hunter stopped 😁

Ulf wasnt a clean player himself. He wasnt as dirty or tough as Hunter.
Ulf had done a lot of dirty things throughout his career but he will always be known for the hit on Neely. I have watched that hit dozens of times. I actually watched it yesterday and that hut wasnt near as bad as people make it out to be. If Neely didn't try to avoid the hit at the last minute it would have been just a normal open ice hit. I dont think it was as bad as the Ovi knee on knee hit with Gonchar. Or it wasnt as bad as Kadri going for Ovechkins knee.
I wasnt a fan of either Samuelson or Neely. I didnt mind Neely but after the incident with Samuelson he turned into a whiny little bitch.

This my favorite Ulf moment . ., .

This is a case of a double standard, and a great one. . . if Ulf, after refusing who knows how fights with Domi had thrown a sucker punch, he would be a (more of) a spineless cunt then he already is.

I was never a Domi fan, but I trust that he would fight someone toe-to-toe (or skate-to-skate) then clock them when they weren’t looking.   We don’t know the whole history, but given these two and their history, Domi probably had his number for a long time and Ulf wanted none of it, and kept on bein a rat and not owning up to it.  Had he done that, this certainly would have never happened

Domi was a douche. You think Domi would go toe to toe. That wasnt always true.

That was a cheap sucker punch from Domi but it was Ulf. It would have been a bigger deal if he sucker punched a more respected player.

Domi clearly had something else in mind . . . douche or not, he fought every heavyweight in the league  when he played. . . I strongly doubt he was afraid of Luke Richardson

The other thing about watching these old highlights people need to remember is it was perfectly legal to leave ones feet when applying a good hit back then. Back then was pre 2004ish. Back when Huntsy played it was legal for a defender to physically clean out the crease too. That's not allowed anymore either because Buttman wanted to see more scoring

The game was definitely different. I understand some of the rule changes for player safety. Like blatant headshots. I do think the league has gone too far. I have seen hits where the primary contact was to the chest or shoulder but momentum carried on to the head. I dont think those kind of hits should be penalized. Hockey is a fast game. A player can't stop his momentum during a hit. I've seen too many players get suspended for hits I would consider clean. Its a professional sport. Injuries happen unfortunately. It seems the league wants to hand out a suspension anytime someone gets injured.

Here’s a great one from a college game back in the 90s.   i would totally watch college hockey if they ditched the stupid face cages and this happened more often

Here is a fight from a junior hockey game in Regina. Caps prospect Connor Hobbs in this one. What is impressive about this fight us the size if the guy Hobbs fought. I think he was 6 foot 5 and 250 lbs. He also laid a guy with a hit just before the fight. He is a good player. Good skater, moves the puck well, has a big shot and plays with an edge. If he can get his defence to an NHL level we could have a pretty solid dman.

BWAHAHAHA!!!!  If you "dont want to (can't/afraid to) fight", then dont agitate someone who does (can/not afraid to). . .   Ekblads an agitator, and as his Crosby act supports, he deserved this.   Itll be interesting to see if he stands up tp Domi the next time they play

what the heck did ekblad think was gonna happen? That Domi was gonna say ok fine we won't fight? Ekblad deserved that just for thinking Domi wasn't gonna throw
