The thread man!! Where's the thread??  :snicker:  Hoping for a good one tonight.. Gonna have me some mid week "sauce"!  :uh-huh:

It's usually impossible to gather  the requisite information to post the thread by early afternoon.  I shoot for around three hours before the game.
Be careful what you ask for America; you just might get it.

So many places to post this, but since it's basically generated from my boredom....

Caps current salary cap situation:

With the "trading" of Stepho, and Hags back from LTIR, the Caps currently have cap space of a whopping $761,613
That is with Obrien on the roster and Boyd NOT.  Not sure why Spotrac shows it that way...probably don't update that oftern)
That does leave room for the Caps to bring up Djoos (and send Ziggy down) if they wish.  I hope that doesn't happen, but not sure what the long term plans are for Djoos if Ziggy is working out, which IMO he is.  I'm sure they kept Djoos for a spare guy, and a litany of little unexpected things forced the cap situation to be tighter than anticipated little unexpectedly including Djoos and Stepho's arbitrated increased salaries, and the lower than planned overall cap figure.
Spotrac does not show Boyd on the active roster, but his salary (800k) shows an adjusted cap hit of only $137k.  Not sure how that works.  His contract is "buried" but if he is on active roster I'd assume his hit would be $800k

Also, if Boyd is on the roster, then Obrien would not be. so....

I guess my point was, we cleared $1.05m in cap space moving Stepho, but still don't really have any cap space to work with without moving a significant piece.
But there is room to bring up Djoos and move down Ziggs if they choose to.

Go Caps

(and all this rhetoric would not be necessary if only....

I guess they figured Stepho wasn't going to work out and get something for him before he walked at the end of the season

and it's a little early for a GDT when the game starts at 10:30

(moved this from the GDT....which I don't know how to do without just cutting and pasting which apparently does not work well)
So who will be the odd man out when Backy returns?
I really like the chemistry and tenacity of the fourth line with Lepper, Dowd, and Hathy.  I think Boyd has continued to produce and has a bit more offensive upside than Dowd, but I really like the way that line has been playing with Dowd at C.
I think Eller has filled in well at 2C with Backy out.  Eller gets a lot of grief on this board, but I've always like him for what he is; a relatively budget 3C.  Also, he is pretty versatile and can fill in at 2C or 3C or 4C
With all the other guys seeming to produce, Panik needs to start producing or these boards are gonna eat him up.  I have not given up on him....not expecting a 20 goal guy, but 10 would be nice.  He as had some great chances, especially since his return from injury, but he hits a post or gets a bad bounce.  Honestly it reminds me of Eller in his first year or two, where his offensive numbers were really poor (and these boards ate him up) but his level of play certainly seemed better than his production.  He was getting or feeding good offensive chances but nobody was scoring with them.

Good problems to have; so many guys doing well that you have to pick which one to sit.  Certainly better than the alternative - nobody producing and nowhere to turn.

Random boredom data for today...

If playoffs started today, The eastern conference would have 5 Metro division teams (both wildcard spots filled by Metro teams)

It actually takes 364 licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop

AND.....
I was just thinking it's about that time again, so here goes...

Scotty, from the original Star Trek, was a lieutenant in the Canadian infantry who stormed Juno Beach in Normandy on D-day.

GO SCOTTY!

He was wounded (by friendly fire) and had his middle finger amputated on his right hand.

And...

One healthy adult male has enough sperm to impregnate every woman on earth.

If a female ferret does not have sex for a year, she will die.

Crocodile poop used to be use as contraception.

There is a town in Canada called Dildo.  (and Scotty is not from there)

So why was the musical "South Pacific" and then the Elvis film "South Pacific" which was about Hawaii called South Pacific when Hawaii is in the North Pacific?

Hawaii is considered South Pacific because of the culture of the indigenous peoples and the weather.

did you know you can go skiing on the big island?
