I've been out of commission,as it were, for a few days.  Having my technicals cleaned and re-vamped. Missed game 4, but got to see this one, that counted.   
My heart and thoughts were with all you wonderful people all the way through.

ALL OF US! And all of them.  I got to see all of them hoist the CUP, before I got shut off.My eyes are suspiciously puffy and sparkly green right now.

I was looking, too.  That's what I wanted to send out this morning as my first work email.    Kuzya deserved the Conn Smythe in my opinion (with more total points in the playoffs than Ovi)... but Ovi for his passion and leadership this year is also understandable.

And now it is the morning after.


Like it or not, this organization has to get back to work, because in less than a month they need to:


(1) Unravel the mystery that is the future of Barry Trotz, which will cascade through the entire coaching staff.
(2) Determine if/how they can resign John Carlson within the salary cap, and if they can't/won't, what the backup plan is.
(3) Make final preparations for and participate in the upcoming draft.
(4) Prepare for the UFA period that starts July 1.  This becomes potentially more important if Carlson is not resigned.


My fandom is following a franchise as opposed to just rooting for a team.  This is the most interesting time of year for me, and it is an especially hectic time in hockey, where many of the big decision making windows are compressed into such a short time period.  We've seen example after example of how this team takes its next steps after not capturing the big prize.  Now we will see how they handle things after they DO capture it.

It feels that Kuzya deserved at least a little more attention after the winning. He delivered superior playoff performance. 


My MVP list
Ovie    - most goals, he forced Caps to win it because he is running out of time
Holtby - the best playoff goalie
Kuzya. - 12 goals, most points, turned off Pens' switch.


and there all other huge contributes, without whom we wouldn't win. In playoff everyone is matter.

The whole regular season started with lowest exceptions for me, and here we are. Now no one calls Caps chokers. Malkin once told when they won Caps, they started to believe in the Cup winning. Now it went our way. The true is that Caps for previous two years were real, too.

I was at the very first game in 1974.  I was 18 years old.  Now, I'm 62.  I was up at 2 in the morning when Pat Lafontaine scored in the 4th overtime to win the series. I was watching again when Petr Nedved did the same thing.  I was watching when every single breakdown and bad break happened to destroy the dream.  I've seen every single playoff game ever played by this team and most every regular season game.  I never thought it would happen but it finally did.  Well done boys, well done.

at the very end of the video, I noticed last night, almost looked like Backy asked for help holding The Cup. I know a few of these guys were playing with injuries that would've had them sitting out a game or three in the regular season.

Plus, as much as it hurt going through those years of him learning it, guess who we don't have to watch go through years of learning it? Kuzy, Wilson, Stephenson, Vrana, the list goes on. As much as winning earlier would of obviously been better, and given us a chance at more during his reign. Us having such a young core of players right now and being a little more reliant on our system and them being the guys who help carry us over is a huge push of confidence for our younger depth players and once Ovie/Nicky finally call it careers, the future of this team realistically.
