Caps have found their rhythm again and staying on the game plan and continuing to attack. When we play with this mind set we dominate the BJ's. We should be winning this series tonight with 4-0 sweep.

I know right. Literally out worked all 5 Columbus players on the ice for what felt like a full minute and a half. He was everywhere, the boards, covering on the point, the front of the net, forechecking, going to every loose puck. That is the big reason you play like that, even if he isn't scoring Columbus has to work so bloody hard just to get by one of our guys.


Trotz was very smart to put Stephenson up there in hindsight, that line has been an absolute hassle to deal with. Columbus has been double teaming Nicky all series and now with that line like it is they do that and Oshie/Stephenson forecheck them to oblivion and suddenly Backstrom gets open lanes/passing time.

OK.  I get the Debbie Downer Caps fan attitude.  But lets look at this series objectively.  We have scored first in every game.  The first three games went to overtime because we blew a lead.  But for a few minutes of bad play in each game this series could easily have been a Caps sweep.  We played well tonight and avoided the mental lapses of the past few games.  I feel good for this series.  We will have the chance to get the aquatic bird monkey off our back in the next round.  This team has shown some heart in this series and we need to acknowledge that.  Go CAPS!

That is how you win the playoffs. I don't know if I can find many complaints about that game other than a few defensive mistakes that even quality playoff teams would sometimes give up. We were really really strong defensively that game. Holtby made a few quality saves and there was a stretch in the third where he was crowded, but for most of that game we weren't letting them near Holtby or control of the puck anywhere behind the net or on the boards. We forced Columbus to make cross ice passes and our forwards were playing D enough to force turnovers.


If we can take the series lead Saturday I'd love to see us end this in CBJ.

    Bad play and some mediocre goaltending. I honestly believe if Holtby started games 1 and 2 we would have swept this series. We dug ourselves a hole and asked Holtby to bail us out. Good rebound but we arent done yet.
