That was hard to watch. I'm a big Avs fan and thought they would make it to the Finals. Not sure how you lose after being up 2-0 in the third.  They did have some bad luck, but you would have thought they could have protected the lead better. That has to be a punch in the gut to their fans.

Hellebuyck gets the start, 10 minutes in its 2-0 St Louis

St Louis is the only wild card team remaining

Two empty netters and a buzzer beater to take it to overtime.    The refs have been bad for this game.  Anti Pegs.

Winnipeg vs Dallas will be the final 2nd round matchup, Winnipeg with the least amount of rest between rounds. No wildcard teams made it past the 1st round.

Caps are gonna be rusty as fuck by the time they play again.  Good to have time to heal up, but never seems like the Caps are ready for the "start" of the 1st game...(or 1st period.)

Ouch. That sucks
My son hit like a 7 way parlay one night...but only had like $5 on it.  Made him a few hundred bucks though.  7 way parlay is crazy though.  I'm not a gambler on hockey (I can barely take the pressure now), but someone always Fucks you on a big parlay.

First game of the playoffs I predicted him the Score, Strome for a point, Ovi for a goal and Chychrun for 2 shots or something and he hit it for around $150.
One of the Caps last 2 games...He needed some other Parlay to hit like 5 different things and they only thing he needed and didnt have was a shot by Strome, and it was the end of them game...like less than 2 minutes and Strome chucked it up ice on a clearing play and it went on net, and I said....THAT might be a shot....i don't think the Caps shot counter counted it, but Fanduel did so....he was happy.

My son-in-law went to Vegas so I had him put some money on Colorado and STL - can't believe they both blew two goal leads in the third period. In both cases there was some poor discipline or poor coaching. STL had the puck numerous times in their own zone and twice went for the goal and iced it.  They had another time near the very end where all they had to do was put the puck back in the corner and the game would have been over.  It was a very frustrating outcome since they outplayed Winnipeg most of the night.

The other team I had, besides the Caps, was Ottawa who I still think should have beat Toronto.

Carolina has had one more day off than the Caps, so rust is no excuse.  Both teams are going to have to ramp back up.

To me, the key to the 2nd round is what Protas shows up.  If he can get himself back to playing the way he did in the regular season, he is a weapon that Carolina has no good way to counteract.  And under any circumstances, he should be a big help on the PK, which struggled a bit against the Habs.  When Protas is on the ice, he walls off a LOT of area in the attacking zone.

Agree on Protas.  I thought he as playing at about 50% but was still effective. Hopefully he is back closer to 100% now.  Just wish we had Fever back.  Watching Dylan play so many minutes is just torture.
