Right you are Mick. I think my biggest takeaway from watching all this (non-Caps) playoff hockey this year..is how far below the compete level the Caps actually are. I mean I knew we weren't top echelon, but the Caps would have just been destroyed by any one of these teams. Any of the teams that even lost last round would have easily handled the Caps. I really don't watch much non-Caps hockey during the year so I'm only seeing how the Caps handle their nightly opponent. And everyone seems to (or needs to) ramp it up for the playoffs and the play is more intense, but the reality is the Caps fall short is so many areas now. Size, speed, team D, team O, Goalie. There's not one factor in which we dominate the ice, much less pulling them all together. (well we dominate the Salary Cap pretty well)
It's a little disheartening.
It's been good playoff hockey to watch though. I have to admit, Vegas looks pretty damn good. They look bigger than everybody else.
I didn't watch the game, but how is the Vegas go ahead goal in the third not goalie interference? The goalie was knocked out of position and into the net. He was actually IN the net when the shot was taken. I realize the Vegas player was taken down by two Dallas players, but the Vegas guy basically just plows the goalie back into the net. There is just NO consistency with the interference calls. That dude WAS interfered with. The NHL has never really gotten a handle on this. At least there haven't been any of those damned "missed" icing calls where goals are called back from a missed icing a full minute earlier in the play.
I don't think it matters who the Caps draft....I think the Caps still "gonna be suck" next year too
Go Cats. you go on and just defy them odds
