Yea, I figured that was coming. It seemed like the only reason OV would rush back home.

So, I am happy to wrap up the year as best as we can.  I think we should be net sellers at the deadline and maybe try to get a trade/sign deal on a decent top 6 blueliner ahead of the exodus at the end of the year.  I also think we should be looking at refilling the prospect tub as much as possible now too.

Injuries and age will hamper and SC run as Ovi marches on to break WG's record.

Who I wouldn't mind seeing gone by the 3rd.

Oshie
Eller
Mantha
(the 'field'  as far as DMen go, but would like to keep ORlov)

Keepers (mandatory or not)
Ovi
Backs
Wilson
Orlov
4th line

I think they should give a good amount of time to the young ones early in the season (Really want to see if Ethan is for real).  CM needs a little more time to show what he can do.  The just swap in scoring veterans to help the ship stay competitive.

I don't care about Oates anymore!

Sad about Ovi's Dad.  He can't be that old. Condolences to Ovi and family.

He was 71 years old.

Willy and Dowd took part in the optional skate this morning, Lavi says they still aren’t ready yet. Then this today..

that was my first thought, I didn’t see anything about sending Alexeyev down which means they are carrying two extra D which is unusual

Caps remaining schedule is tough.  20 games vs good teams and contenders fighting for a playoff spot and 6 games vs teams that likely won't make it.
Lots of games vs the East so.....I guess we'll see what this team is made of.

I don't see us making the playoffs with this schedule.
So good news is, IF we can manage to win some tough games - it will help in the standings both for us and against the teams we need to beat

We play the NYI four times, Buffalo twice, Detroit twice, Rags twice, Hens once.  Also Florida, and NJD, and Canes, but I figure we aint catching them no matter what.  Not gonna catch the Rags at this point either.

Hopefully the Caps WTF up and surprise us.  There should be enough talent on this team to score....not sure why we refuse to on most nights.

Go Caps

Philosophy. They still think they're an artsy-fartsy pass 1st, 2nd and 3rd type of team. And apparently Lavi or anyone won't clue them in. Need some testosterone to crash the net, but we don't have any.

I recall the year of the Cup....we crashed the net consistently.
You'd think they'd remember that.

I remember one season Chimer was credited with 6 or 7 goals that never touched his stick, they all deflected off him on the way in. I’m pretty sure he had at least one foot in the paint each time.

In other news, after a minor hip procedure in October that apparently did nothing, Hags just had the same procedure that Backy had..

I just saw that on Hags.  Can't imagine he will ever return to the NHL.  His whole game was speed.  Always thought he could have been a better scorer with that speed but maybe his hands just don't work?
Hopefully it is successful for him.  At 34, I can't see him getting back to NHL hockey, but who knows....I heard once some old Swedish player even older then that did it and returned.

Not sure if anyone's noticed, but as predicted, our 2 new goalies seem to be getting more and more broken as the season goes on. (while Sammy and VV are excelling elsewhere)  :)

yep, even Copely is having a good season. Like I said last season, I was prepared to give Sammy and Vtec another chance, but with different coaches.

Kuemper is old experienced that goalie coach shouldn't be necessary or make a huge difference.  Yes a good GT coach would help anyone, but Kuemper SHOULD be solid on his own.

But his game has fallen off.  Last night was not a great game for him.  Seems long the long distance shots are his kryptonite...and the breakaways...and the rebounds.  Good thing the team in front of him is primo at not letting any of that in on him

Sell Sell Sell!   I think that maybe Ted should redo the whole top mgmt.  Get in someone experienced in rebuilds (or not)  Gotta keep Ovi happy until he supasses 99 but trying to duck tape Team nursing home has run its course!

Could say the same for Holtby.. Lost Korn and really never was the same. These coaches have their own philosophies that can introduce bad habits and fuck up mechanics, etc.
