This bunch of fellas seem to have a serious aversion to shooting the puck.  Usual bullshit of trying to be too cutesy.

Not a lot of positives about this line up.  Lots of weakness.

Thanks for the well wishes! And yes, paradise has a price!  :smirk:  And hell yea Global Warming is real!! We been warming up since the ice age! (And no amount of money or taxes are gonna stop it)  :P

So how'd the boys do? Saw about 5 minutes of it. (Alta's link to Caps site worked for me) No real interest in the lineups during preseason though. How many games/days left before the real shit starts?

Protas has looked really good.

He should be worrying McMichael...and Eller...and Dowd...and anyone else who wants a spot up front.

Protas looked great.. within a sub standard line up.  Meh.  Not convinced just yet.
Dont think Eller or Dowd need  to lose any sleep.
I'm done with Mc M.  Total waste of space.   Done.

Suddenly this team has a lot more centers than it needs.
Backstrom
Borgstrom
Dowd
Eller
Kuzy
McMichael
Mojo?  are we counting him as  C or a LW?
Protus
Snively  (okay maybe he's a LW?.....which we have about 6 of)
Strome

Obviously Backy is out indefinitely (forever), but that leaves 8 guys for MAYBE 5 spots (assuming you want to carry/can afford a 23 man roster)  Eight D and 2 goalies leaves 13 forwards - minus 8 wingers leaves 5 spots for C
I'm guessing Kuzy, Strome, Eller and Dowd have spots for sure which leaves 5 guys fighting for 1 spot (one of them not dressing)
Snively is probably fucked, and I'd assume Borgstrom (25) maybe moves down (but he played 52 NHL games last year)
As well as Protus has played, I don't see how he can make the team.  Unless they move Strome or someone else to the wing.

Protus might get bumped simply because he is only 22 and on a two-way contract and doesn't have to clear waivers.  (Ahem....same goes for McMichael).  I think anyone else moving down has to clear waivers; Snively, Borgstrom

I can't foresee the Caps carrying Snively, Protus or Borgstrom this season (unless they move McMichael out)
Or they bump Axel "the Rose" Jonsson-Fjallby down the waivers list.

Caps probably carry 7 D so that adds one spot somewhere in the forward list (IF the Caps carry a 23 man roster)

No doubt - they will get what's due.  Still surprised they didn't get their asses handed to them on the spot.

Alta - thanks for the NASCAR videos.  Personally, I can't stand Denny Hamlin, but kudos to him for stepping up and speaking out so publicly.  When you get Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin on the same page, given their past dustups, you know something is wrong.

from this angle it looks more or less harmless…

from this angle it looks much worse…

carrier pilots are taught to put their heads back against the seat during launch, and I’ve been on a few roller coasters that told you the same. That’s still a hard hit, but if he had his head back it may not have been a concussion

Yea, these cars don't collapse at all. Especially on the rear. If you look at previous seasons when they backed it into the wall, it would fold up nearly to the rear glass. These, you can barely tell they've hit it. Bowman was probably going over 150mph when he hit. Looks so tame from outside the car view. They have a new rear clip they're testing for next year. Hope nobody else gets injured before then.

This was Denny in the Gen6 car at Loudon. Flat 1 mile track. Probably half the speed Bowman was going.

That's 14 forwards and 7 D.  One more than 20 man roster will allow in regular season.

Also...no Nick Dowd in this lineup.

Caps need to still trim 5 guys from the roster for the season.  McMichael better play well - he is waivers exempt so moving him down costs nothing (like Protus).  Looks to me like the Fall guy (Fjallby) might be on the list, along with Snively, Borgstrom, Clark(exempt).  Caps need to cut 5 guys - at least three will have to clear waivers - yikes.
Looks to me like either Protus OR McMichael will make the roster, but not both.  Unless they put Dowd on Waivers, but I don't think they will.

on the bright side, the Nats season ends today so there won’t be this stupid musical on which team gets the primary radio coverage
