That score does NOT reflect the game at all    :P

Really happy for and with Eller.    8)     Good job ThomCat.    ;)

How is it we're so much better at away games?

Happy with the win.  Not so much the way we played.

Good effort. Another game where PLD could have gotten two or three easy!  Getting more and more worried about hands of stone, but he has to have a breakout soon.

We take Dowd for granted.  That guy makes an effort!  That check where he just threw his body at that guy - you just don't see that anymore.  Love that guy.

That may of been the best 3rd period we played this year! Thompson made the saves when he had to and we didn't spend the last half of the period playing dump and defend. That on the road, vs the Cup champs who were also reeling, with a 3 game losing streak.

Of course their backup goalie channeled his inner Pat Roy (like they always do vs us) and we still found a way! Surprised and pleased at that one! (The dad's in the stands probably helped greatly) Either way, they now know they can play competitive hockey, even if Ovi isn't out there.

Great game.  Loved the forechecking in the 3rd.  We really could have had 5-6 goals with all the chances generated.  That's how you win games.

Pretty well played...Caps outplayed them the last half of game, which is nice to see.
PLD is playing terrific, but damn if that dude doesn't have Mantha-itus.
McMike - that guy is on a whole new level this year...I can't recall McMike or PLD having a bad game this year at all.
Lappy had a pretty good game - was in the play and making plays
Chicklets is flat out my favorite new player.  Don't know if he just having lucky run or what, but he is super solid on D and making nice plays to drive O.
Carlson....FFS needs to practice hitting the net - he must have sent 12 shots wide last night.
Raddysh actually had a good game on the wing.  I didn't give him enough credit, but he did at least get in position and have chances to score.
Thompson was solid...he flops around now and then, but he also makes some sparkling game savers.  I think he gives us a better chance to win, though both guys have been solid lately.
Love that Eller hustled/skated his way to the empty net and selfishly put it in, driving the needed nail into the FLA coffin.  No fucking about, just bury it and the panthers hopes.  Eller is a fantastic addition and really working at 3c.  He has transformed that line from a catastrophic liability to a solid 3rd line.  Mostly I think with him at C, the wingers can free wheel and do their own thing a bit more.
Miro - meaningless ENG, but like to see him hustle and outwork not just anyone, but none-other than big strong Barkov to muscle that puck into the net.  Kid wants to score - we need that.
FFS - HIT HIM!!!

Rich - as usual, your analysis is bang on.  I too love Chykrun - just wish his contract was a few years as he is going to get a huge payday after this year.

PLD just has to get a few to go in sooner or later. The nice thing is that nobody is whining about his contract.  We knew it was bad to begin with so hopefully, that is not an issue. Carbs and the team seem to love him and maybe that keeps his confidence up while he is struggling getting it in the net. If we could just get 20 goals/year out of him with his other play, that would be great.

I whine about his contract!  :snicker:

Bro makes 8.5m x 7 fucking years.. He's contributing with his solid play and play making, but at that amount, he needs to put the puck in the net at LEAST 20x a year. I didn't know his accuracy was that shitty. He missed the net by 3 feet the other night when he came out of the box, on a break away.  :-(

$8.5M x 7 years is a tad high for a 4th liner.

Ya - but we knew it was bad to begin with when they dumped Kempfer for him.  I'm not thrilled with it and I hated the move when they did it, but I figure about 3 million a year of it was the cost of dumping Kempfer.  But PLDs contract is longer which I don't like. Let's give him another month to get a few goals - and drop the gloves!!

I've not done any recon on him. Has he always had stone hands or we think it's just a funk slump? Never knew he threw hands either? He's got the size for it! He skates really well. Good at the dot. Good on the boards and in both ends. Passes and makes plays fine too! Just needs to find that twine a little more frequently!

I will take PLD at 8.5 over Kuzy for 8.5.  That's basically who he replaced.  Not really legit way to look at it, but...

He definitely needs to score more goals, but he is playing very very well.  Can't say the dude has been a dud or a failure, just that he is overpaid. Only some of that is on the Caps, and like...(someone) said - a big chunk of that was going to be paid for moving Kuemper (one way or another)
