5 GOALS, what an entertaining game in The New NHL!!! The Caps are trying hard though, like they always do. Even though the goals were by the other team, they’re just hot, but they’re fun to watch. But who cares we have A Cup, so we can die happy even if it’s another 40yrs before the next!!!
OMG has Copley looked like shit. Here's a hint: When a guy is coming down alone get the hell out of the net to take away his sight lines. He was practically with his ass against the back bar on the first goal and on the shorthanded goal. Then he's totally unprepared for the shot on the 5th goal. And Backstrom getting stripped trying to dipsy doo into the zone on the PP was simply unacceptable. Overall, the Preds look faster, hungrier and simply better in practically every way.
In the bigger picture, looking at the crap play lately, this is what happens when you have a "nice guy" coach instead of one who would chew their asses out and sit people for a few games who wouldn't normally sit in order to send a message. I'm not seeing anything here that makes me think these guys can get past the first round of the playoffs. The only bright spot was the PP looking better. Overall, quite brutal.

If they have enough talent to have won a cup then this crap can only result from being satisfied and not paying the price as required to win, or even compete in these games. It’s more the wide open Caps system. The D has almost no support from the forewards and play against odd man rushes routinely on a GOOD night.
Niskanen and Orpik are both getting long in the tooth. Not sure they can still compete in the wide open 2019 NHL.

I have no idea why McLellan is talking about adding a forward. Does he notice they have the 5th worst road GAA in the league? They need defense help, not a forward. And I don't care what Carlson's plus/minus is. He's a liability on defense many times each game. Nisky and Orlov get pushed around. Orpik hits people but slow and getting old. Kempny and Siegenthaler are our best defensemen at this point. The current crew isn't going to cut it come playoff time.Forwards sell more jerseys. Also, 9-4 losses are easier to market than 7-2 losses.
