Caps up 3-0 after two
-
Pretty solid 40 minutes. Needed LT to save their ass a few times as usual, but overall not bad.
-
With the goal and assist Fehérváry now has 100 career points
-
At least Mick's concern about L'il Pro being relegated to spot duty hasn't materialized. Halfway through the 3rd period, the 700 pound line has the top three TOI among the forwards. It'll be interesting to see if L'il Pro continues to go out there with the Caps protecting a lead down the stretch.
This is one place where we don't see a lot of Leonard. I wonder if for some reason Carbery doesn't trust him when responsible defense becomes the priority.

EN GOOOAAALLLL
HUTSON
-
SHUTOUT
Caps win 4-0
-
Lil Pro got his first point, an assist on the Hutson ENG
-
LT with the SHUTTY!!! Still relying on a crazy shot %, but we'll take it!!
-
If this team could play like this 2-3 games in a row they’d be solidly in the playoffs, despite the pitiful PP this season. Too much inconsistency.
-
T'would be nice to see:
Leonard get 2 more goals to get to 20.
Strome get his 20th.
Wilson get his 30th.
Over/under on how many of those three things happen?
-
Leonard has a fantastic shot - the release is special, you just don't see it coming. A little like Ovi in that respect..the release catching you by surprise.
I would agree Carbs does not trust Leno in close down situations. That's okay, we have several of those guys. Leno plays a little bit on the edge, which I am okay with as well. He draws a lot of penalties, and gets his share as well. I think he is probably not that fun to play against. Seems he draws the ire of most everyone, I wonder if he has a mouth on him.
and FFS he SHOOTS the puck. Don't stop that. We need guys who have score first mentality.
Hutson is a difference maker. He still makes mistakes (to be expected) but man when he has the puck, the game is MOVING. I think they should give him more PP time. We struggle to get it into the O-zone, but when he has it, he's moving so quickly, he creates space. I am a little surprised to see him paired with Sandin - thats a defensive breakdown scenario just waiting to happen. I think I'd pair him with Fever, but have to consider the lefty/righty thing - don't know which they prefer.
You notice him EVERY game. Can't say that about everyone.
Thompson is just phenomenal. Glad we got him the SO. He should have 6 of them this year at least.
Good for Lil Pro. I thought he played pretty well. I would absolutely have him on the roster here next year. We need guys who can drive the O and I think he will only get better.
Having him take draws against Tavaras just isn't fair, but I did see him win a couple.

I think Leno has one of the best wrist shots in the league, already! He finds that top corner on the regular! Hutson is the best, if not second best, puck handler on the team, already. LilPro looked pretty good. Glad he got to assist with BigBro on the Hutson EN'r. He looked a little out of place at times, but Im sure he'll settle in.. Wish we could see Cristall this year as well. Future don't look too bleak if we can get these guys some steady ice time!!
I'll take all 3, Ice. :cross:
