Ovechkin now has 21 consecutive seasons with at least 20 goals, 2nd all time behind Gordie Howe(22). And he adds another goalie to the list, 188th.

Sourdif to the locker room, got clipped in the face with the puck.

Missed the 2nd PK, watching football, but Duhaime is in the box too often. PP needs 5 on 3 to do anything. 5 on 2 would be better.

We'll always have 1 in a row! They can't take that from us!
Tuesday it is.. :-\
-
The loss of Dubois is really killing us right now. Dowd is NOT a 3rd line center, and LaPierre has given us virtually nothing. We just don't have the center depth to withstand this particular injury.
Of course, what I mean is the 2024/2025 Dubois. He had gotten off to a bad start this season before his injury.
-
Sourdif has really shined at center, but the team only had him for the 1st period tonight. No Chychrun, no Wilson. Some really bad officiating.
-
Have they ever clarified exactly what PLD's injury is?
If we can get him back and have him, Willy and Protas healthy, we are a totally different team.
Love that Ovi got 20 but I'm getting more worried that he will want to come back next year. At this point, it is likely that he will get 30 and how does he walk away then.
-
Caps played decent - but TOO many penalties. Most of the penalties were part fantasy - calls I think should be let go. Duhaim's penalty was iffy at best.
Ovi's slashing penalty was a bad call. The call on Lappy for holding was also a bad call - he and the pred player just sort of came together as part of the play and lappy put his hand up..it LOOKED like maybe he was going for a hold, but he didn't grab or pull or nothing. Problem with that call is then Numbnuts Carlson just throws the puck off the rink for a a 5 on 3....which led the the game winner.
All those penalties just hurt the Caps - they are not a good special teams squad right now. much better at 5 v 5. Caps really need the flow of 5v5...they don't do well when they are altering lines to constantly kill penalties, or putting our our anemic PP
Missing Wilson and Chychrun - our 2 BEST players hurts - especially with all the special teams play last night. Missing Sourdif hurt too. Funny, I recall complaining about the trade for him...giving up picks for a nobody with no experience, and not even on an NHL squad at the time, but he has certainly made the best of his time this year
Sure hope big Willy plays Tuesday - I'm going to that game with 3 sons (got tickets for Christmas). Tickets bought by my youngest so better find me an oxygen tank to hike my old fat ass up to the back row of the 400 level. :snicker:
Also....I hate that the announcers kept calling this a come from behind victory for the Preds. I mean it was 1-1 after 1. The fact that Caps score the 1st goal of the game does technically make this as a come from behind win, but the Caps led for all of 7 minutes in the 1st period, then Preds tied it in the 1st period, nobody scored in the second and Preds scored 1 minute into 3rd and led the rest of the game.
A game tied in the first, which you then never fall behind, eventually lead and win is not a come from behind win in my mind.
They say shit like that all the time - sort of manipulating the stats to make some kind of point.
If a football team kicks a field goal for 3pts on its first drive of the game, then proceeds to get stomped 21-3, is this a come from behind win for the winning team?
Hoping for another 1 in a row in the win column on Tuesday.

Dubois had some kind of abdominal muscle injury that required surgery, and a long recovery/rehab to make sure it heals properly. He has been skating lately, speculation is he will be ready after the Olympic break.
-
"Washington Capitals forward Pierre-Luc Dubois underwent surgery in early November 2025 for abdominal and adductor muscle injuries sustained on October 31st, sidelining him for 3-4 months with an expected return around the Olympic break in February or March 2026"
Ovi is 2nd on the team in points. I think they NEED him to re-sign, tbh.. Carlson on the other hand needs replaced! Just too much responsibility for a old, slow, loosing coordination Dman. I don't know how far out Hutson is, but they need someone new on D who can skate and produce some O. Sandin seems like a good trade candidate to me. He skates well, passes well, but other than a slap pass now and then is about as much a threat in the O zone as I would be.
Sour has been a nice surprise! I too balked at the trade. Guess the powers that be do know a little more than us. (very little) Or more likely, just got lucky. :snicker: Anyway, if he can find consistency he'll stick around a long time. Dowd has dropped off big time. Still wins faceoffs, unless they're important. lol Duhaime and Beauvi also don't bring much, though they also don't cost much..
Hoping for Wilson to play Tuesday is a stretch. Hasn't even skated w/o a non contact jersey. Though I guess anything is possible! Hope you have a good time with your boys!! Just embrace the nose bleed seats! You can use the exercise! Plus, family time is good time! :P
