Caps lose 4-3
-
I would expect the same lines with the short turnaround, Thompson in net.
-
Bout time! Thought I was gonna have to go rouge and start the GDT myself. :raised-eyebrow: :snicker:

I was browsing the news this morning, and drinking coffee

PK time
-
Wilson and Tkachuk have been jawing at each other quite a bit
-
GOOOAAALLLL
WILSON
-
Protas taken into the boards hard by Zub, Pro was still on the ice as they went to commercial. Pro did go to the locker room.
Strome gets a retaliatory penalty for slashing Zub after the fact, Zub gets an extra 2 minutes.
Caps get a PP
-
PP was a bit different that time with Strome in the box. McMichael on PP1 and Beauvillier on PP2.
-
Sourdif with a fight. Answers for a hard hit on Chabot. Sourdif held his own against Batherson.

Protas still hasn’t come out of the locker room, Roy just win in.

Caps up 2-0 after one

Protas and Roy are out for the 2nd. Protas looks uncomfortable.

We had a 10 shot and 2 goal advantage after 1... ::) Now, losing 3-2 and 5 shot disadvantage. lol Team needs a shake up. No consistency at all the last 3+ weeks.

Caps lose 4-3

Thought they may steal a point. :(
Really starting to lose confidence in Carbery. Pull the goalie and wait till 20 seconds to go before Leonard gets a shift? I guess it makes sense though, can't be w/o Carlson on the ice. ::) He's about as bad as Lavi as far as giving young players a chance.

Saturday at 7pm, a normal start time
-
Thought they did ok given the back to back with New Years Eve in between.
Yes, Sourdif is coming around, and was surprisingly scrappy in the fight, but let's not get carried away. I do have more confidence though that he will stick long-term.
I think Beauvy has had a really good couple of games.
It is absolutely time to try out a few new guys in the lineup. Start with sitting Lappy and then sit McMike for a game or two to send him and the team a message.

Yes that felt inevitable...I just kept waiting, dreading the Caps collapse yesterday. Caps great in the 1st but the 2nd...oof, and the goal with 30 seconds left in the 2nd was a dagger - took the tiny little bit of wind they had left.
Sourdiff has looked better and better and he is only 23, so he is very young, experience wise. Hope he continues to improve. I don't see him being an all-star but he has certainly been serviceable, especially based on his limited experience. He fights for the puck, he hits, he skates, makes some smart plays. Certainly helps to have with Big Willy on your line, but Sourdiff has been surprisingly decent. He is taking advantage of the playing opportunities he is getting with Duby out, unlike what most of the young Caps players do with their opportunities.
McMike...skates like a rock star, handles like a magician, then forgets to put the biscuit in the basket. How many breakaways has he had this year? I recall him scoring on one. We really need him to be a goal scorer - this team is starved for them.
Lappy....did he play yesterday? :-|
Ovi looked sluggish to me, but maybe he is just slow now. He does have 15 goals (41 games) so ~30 is not a terrible number if he gets there. Maybe we need to break his leg again and he can catch fire upon his return
Willy...wow, what a player he has become. Selfishly, I didn't really want him to go to Olympics (to save his energy for this team), but I am happy for him and hope he does well and really enjoys it. 22G 20A in 40 Games. (22G ties him for 10th in NHL) Man, I'd love to see him get 40G and just piss off the entire NHL
