Protocol normally takes about 10 minutes. Depending how bad his nose was broke is probably the bigger factor. It’s hard to skate and breath with two tampons shoved up your nostrils.

We a clown show in the shootout. I find it odd Thompson isn’t better in the shootout cuz he’s so good otherwise.
Refs definitely sucked that game…not just the non call on Lenny. I mean it was close to shoulder on shoulder, hard to tell at full speed but I don’t see how they can review that and not come away with a penalty with the amount Lenny was leaking. You don’t t get a busted beak by getting hit in the shoulder.

So I don't really have a problem with the Trouba hit. I don't think he was targeting the head and Wilson and Trouba are two of the only guys left that will actually lay out a heavy hockey hit! He did get up high, but I bet Lenny's visor probably caused the cut/blood. Yes, Willy would have gotten a penalty, and a maybe a suspension, and maybe Trouba should have gotten a penalty but I'm not sure what penalty you would call. It wasn't boarding or charging and there was no cross-check.
Lenny has worried me before about being a bit reckless and exposing himself. I don't really fault him on this one as he was playing the puck and it was a split second hit, but it was a good lesson for him to anticipate a little more and remember that he is playing with the big boys now.
Good game overall and the Caps probably should have won if they had gotten a couple breaks. Still can't figure out Carbs shootout selections......

I don't believe Trouba was targeting the head either. The game moves so fast and you can only control what YOU do, not what the other player does at the last split second. Lenny was sort of turning around into Trouba's path...hard to tell at full speed what is really going to happen. I do think there was enough head contact, albeit unintentional to call a penalty after reviewing it. Was the head the main point of contact - I don't believe so, but I do think it resulted in head contact.
Locker kept hollering it had to be a penalty because it was a "blind side hit" on an "unsuspecting player" but those aren't penalties as far as I know. He says some crazy shit now and the for a guy that played the game. Not Trouba's fault if Lenny is unsuspecting.
Wilson would have gotten a penalty for sure and probably a suspension just because of his rep and that is a shame...you should call the play based on the play, not on the players involved.
I tried to go back and watch it today, but I watched the 10 min condensed highlights from the NHL and they don't even have this in the game. F'n NHL - It was a big hit, why not have it in the highlights.
Lenny is a bit reckless...that's a good word for his style of play. He's not afraid to go in there with reckless abandon (which really had nothing to do with this play) but I'd agree he needs to maybe not settle down, but definitely be aware.
Shootout...Oof. We just don't have any real great options. The way McMike was playing last night I'm surprised they didn't give him a shot. I like they gave Frank a go.
Honestly I'm a little surprised we survived OT. Ducks definitely had better wheels than us. Ovie in OT is a nightmare - I get that he's scored a bunch of OT winners, but damn 3 on 3 and he goes in and fires it wide and its a 3 on 1 the other way....Ovi wheeling around and getting back up ice is like trying to watch a locomotive come to a stop and turn around. Sandin was simply trying to do to much and got himself in trouble more than once

Okay I found the hit elsewhere and went back and watched it carefully. No he didn't target the head, but Trouba's shoulder damn sure makes contact with Lenny's face. It was it Trouba's shoulder that catches Lenny on the nose, as he was much higher than Lenny. Yes Lenny was bent and turning into him. I don't know if that's supposed to be a penalty, because how I have heard it explained (ahem...multiple times with wilson) is that is the responsibility of the player making the hit to NOT make contact with the head. (which is partly ridiculous, but whatev)
I think watching the replay in slow motion you see the head contact and have to at least call a minor penalty. I don't think it was targeted and required a major or a misconduct or such, but he definitely makes contact AND the player was injured.
Reading the rule for head contact though....basically says if head is not main point of contact then its not a penalty:

- If the head isn't the main point of contact.
- If the head contact is unavoidable due to an opponent's sudden movement just before contact

He ALSO said Sourdif was gonna "miss some time" and he played the next night. So.. Who fucking knows. I just know if it's a concussion, we're gonna suck for a while. He's our new shiny spark plug, just like Oshie used to be. And unfortunately now, it looks like he may be a concussion magnet as well. :( PP looked like it was back to ass as soon as he wasn't on PP1.. What else is new.. :sick:

It was hard to tell, but to me Leonard did not look cuncused as he left a trail of blood to bench. If his nose was broke, which seems likely, he probably couldn’t continue the game. Even if the leaking stopped. Gonna have to wait until tomorrow for updates. It seems the entire front office takes the day off when the players get one.
