FOOOOOOOORE!!!
-
I'm going to be at work. Maybe me missing the game might help them win? :cross:
-
I've made my peace.. I'll probably bitch if we get embarrassed again, but it is what it is. Once Fever got hurt, I knew any actual chance at a deep run/cup was probably not possible. I wasn't ready for NC to embarrass us the way they have, but truth is, our slow-old age is still an issue. And our D has been screened by above avg goaltending all year. (Even when Fever was healthy) Not to mention our only true goal scorer is 40 years old. We lack "talent" that's needed this time of year. But, has been a successful season by most any standard, so gonna "try" and just enjoy this one.. Hope for 1 more game after tonight, but if not, so be it. Get em' boys!!
-
Let's do this shall we?
Time for some bodies to start hitting the floor ice. At least make it watchable

Chatfield is out for the Canes, injury. Their new guy Nikishin will make his NHL debut tonight.

Morning :-|

Hit hard or go home.

PP time
-
power play lines are a bit different tonight

:poop:
:clown: :O=
-
Same old, same old. :'(
-
Soft goal again. Gotta hope Thompson is not 100%. Else we paid a lot of money for AHL caliber goaltending.
-
GOOOAAALLLL
BEAUVILLIER
-
8-0
-
game tied 1-1 after one
-
Some pretty solid non-checking going on so far.
-
Jeebus, survived the end of the period somehow. We just look punch drunk.

NHL scoring says the Caps out hit the Canes 19 to 12 in the first. But, what they count as a hit these days is ridiculous.
-
One way or another, we have to be better.

Oooohh 'ello!

-
nope.. offsides
-
Course it is.
-
nother PP . .
-
20 seconds in the zone is a long time, to be called back for offside. They need to adjust that shit in the offseason.
-
Leonard's never scoring another goal in his life. NHL or otherwise. :-(
-
nother PK . .
-

I agree there needs to be a time limit, but I think 20 seconds is too short. An average shift is about 45 seconds, that seems reasonable.
-
Saved by the posts!! lol Dowd lost 3 Dzone draws (so far) that PK.. :-| There's a few areas we really need to improve on. Faceoffs have been a problem for years.

20 seconds is a long fucking time. Any goal scored after 20 seconds in the zone had nothing to do with being offside. I think 10 seconds should be the rule. If it's not a direct reason for the goal, it shouldn't be reviewable. Same with high sticks.

I was trying to explain to my gal, why the goal was disallowed after the offsides and I couldn't justify "but that was 19 seconds ago" and i had no retort except "the nhl is dumb"
-
Guys dreaming of the links. A bit of urgency and effort would be nice.
-
game tied 1-1 after two
-
20 seconds is a long fucking time.
Is this what you told the ex wife..
:-|
:snicker:
-
nother PP . . .
-
Were not bothering them too much.
-
It really should be a penalty on us, if we ever put Ovi and Carlson on the ice at the same time next year.. Shit is pathetic.
Is this what you told the ex wife..
:-|
:snicker:
As a matter of fact, I have no ex wives! :raspberry:
-
phuk
-
Welp.. Golf it is. :-(
-
:(
that’s that
-
Another 1 goal game. What the fuck happened to our offense?
Only 4 months till Redskins! See you then.
-
See y'all next year.
-
7 goals in 5 games? Oof.. lol Carbs and Co. have work to do this offseason. Need to do something about Ovi and Carlson ever being on the ice at the same time. Need a 3rd line center who can win a draw and create some O. Need a couple D who are mobile, since hitting and checking seems to be against the gameplan.
Good season though! GOAT broke the record! They can't review that!! :)
-
Caps lose 3-1. Hurricanes win the series 4-1.
-
That undersized Walker kid looked pretty good. Kinda guy you’d want in your system.
:-|
-
Is he a rookie? I heard them mention 2 rooks on Carolina who were balling. Stank and someone else. We need some rooks who can contribute. So far Leonard doesn't look like it. Hopefully Lappy has matured a bit.
-
Walker is that Ausi kid that made his NHL debut with the Caps
-
Ah, Nathan? I knew I'd heard that name before. Didn't put 2+2 together.
* Well shit, it's "Sean" Walker? Never heard of him. :snicker:

Fuck it. If its a missed call its a missed call. This is just bad for hockey. If it does NOT directly lead to a scoring chance right away, leave it alone.
how many missed penalty calls or non calls go by? this just slows down the game and detracts from the excitement. lose this offsides rule.
Why not review icing - they miss that shit ALL the time and it does/can lead directly to a scoring chance off the faceoff. they don't review those. Same difference.
Hate, hate, hate, hate this every time I see it no matter who is playing. They want the game to be faster and more exciting, yet they have this silly offsides review.
-
the joke used to be....What's red, white and blue and plays golf in April?
but since the season is a tad longer....and we DID manage to win one series....we change that to May (this year)
-

I could’ve sworn the announcers earlier in the series said it was the Ausi kid. That’s what I get for not double checking.
-
Nathan plays for another team...out west I think..no with the Blues. He had some goals in the playoffs
-
Caps were way too passive in the last half of the 3rd. They needed to go all out to score and save the season but they laid back in a defensive posture with the expected result. They scored all of 6 goals in 5 games aside from the empty netter in Game 2. That will lose 100% of the time.
Need to revamp and get bigger and faster if they expect to be in the top echelon of teams. This year was really an over-performance from a fairly mediocre team. Hopefully, the FO isn't taken in.

It wouldn't be needed if the linesmen were better. I see them miss egregious offsides all the time that you can easily spot on TV. The quality of the linesmen has really deteriorated over the last 15-20 years. Back in the old days they'd call an offsides that you'd swear was onside and when you saw a replay, damned if they weren't right 95% of the time.

We have mobile d-men in Chychrun and Sandin. The problem is that the playoffs are an altogether different beast. What works during regular season pond hockey fails in the nasty grind of the playoffs. They need mobile and BIG d-men. Mobile but small is no good as is big and slow. Same goes for upfront. It was tiring seeing Leonard, Mangiapane, Bouvillier and McMichael get tossed around like toys. Same for Sandin on the back end. The whole team needs to be bigger, younger and faster.
-
Sean Walker is 30 years old, 5 years as a King, then 1 as a Flyer and 1 as Avalanche and this year with Carolina. He was always an offensive dman but not always a starter until this year as a Hurricane.... 16pts in 82 games.
-
Edmonton is about the only team I can recall in recent history than wins in the playoffs by scoring goals and having a mediocre goalie. Even then, they are 50/50. They look good this year. They stomped Vegas, but then Vegas performed like the Caps...just couldn't score. Edmonton does have superstar talent though, and they have speed. I'd say decent size...not huge, but man do they ever drive the net, and have superstar skill.
Vegas is really big and talented but their scorers just disappeared in the Oilers series.
Caps need to get bigger on D and faster up front for sure. TVR and Carlson gonna look extra slow next year. Sandin is quick enough, but come playoffs, he's not helping
