Tonight is a must win
-
I'm thinking that the Caps may come out kinda pissed off after the end of the last game where that guy hit Mangiopani in the back - that was a real cheap shot and could have easily injured him. I think it was Walker that did it.
I'm gonna go with the Caps 4 and Canes 1. Goals by Wilson, Strome, Ovi and Mangiopani!!

I think you might be better off predicting who will score for the Canes. :raspberry: Jus' sayin'
I do appreciate your optimism tho.. :koolaid:

Let's Go Caps!
If the whole squad would play with Willy's intensity, we'd look a site better. (might spend 1/2 the game in the box, but it would be better to watch)
was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Win tonight or it'll be golf by Friday. If we get down 3-1, we'll throw in the towel rather than go back to Raleigh for another beating.
-
Stay positive! They never shoulda pissed us off!!!
-
Willy up to 1, Protas down to 2.
Leonard in, Raddysh out.
Sandin and Roy switch lines.
-
Need to score goals to win!
-
It appears Carolina has not made any changes to their lines.
-
:poop:
:clown: :O=
-
And it begins. :clown: :poop:
-
That'll probably be all they need. The team that averaged 4 goals a game has left the chat. :-(
-
8-0
Caps get a PP outa that
-
pppp
-
Chychy is leaking, that’s a 4:00 PP
-
We have the absolute worst PP in the playoffs.. Fucking pathetic. >:(
-
When did the ECHL team arrive and put on Caps uniforms? God, that was pathetic. This one's going to end about 4-0 or 5-0. You can feel it coming.
-
Washington is too slow. Against a hard working and fast team like Carolina, you’re going to have issues creating offense consistently. ☹️
-
Same as last game - good start.
Sandin should not be playing in the playoffs - just embarrassing himself.
I like how Protas is skating.
-
Caps down 1-0 after one
-
:poop: :poop:
:(
-
Washington looks like they're skating with weighted vests on. Caps definitely skating the speed limit this series.
-
Might as well put out the BIG line.. Protas- Dubi- Wilson and see if they can generate a goal. Otherwise looks like our scoring may be done for the season.
Our D guys have gone ice cold. Chychrun hasn't really done shit since his contract extension.
And we don't check. No reason to have size if you don't use it.
-
Leonard has no business being on the ice. There are 5 other guys that should be out there before him.
Love PLD but he has done nothing and at times he just glides around.
Just need one to get back in it.
-
The Caps over achieved up to this series, and it finally caught up to them. The Caps haven't found a way to slow down the Canes enough. Basically the Canes have forced the Caps, in this series, to play at the Canes faster pace of play. You can see the team can't score goals at this faster pace. It's partial to the coaching staff and the rest to the roster. The Caps just look too fatigued generate offense.
-
5 periods w/o a goal. This team and "playoffs" are a fucking nightmare. Every year..

-
Just an embarrassment.

GOOOAAALLLL
CHYCHRUN

Short lived hope. Didn't shut us out though! :)

Thursday 7pm

🤢🤮😭

Caps lose 5-2
Hurricanes lead the series 3-1

As much as I hate to say it I have to give it to The Candy Canes, they're just well coached, getting bounces they need, and the better team this series.
The Caps haven't been able to play their style of hockey and it always look like the Cans have twice as many men on the ice zipping all over the place and The Caps are in slow motion?
I just don't see our guys being able to make the adjustments or the coaching acumen to overcome it?
-
Not for nothin', but that's 2 in row LT has basically shit himself.. :-\

If three quarters of this roster was gone next year, I wouldn't care a bit. That's probably what's needed to fix this shit show. I'm not all that impressed with Carberry, either. He seems to have caught lightning in a bottle the first couple months but when real coaching was needed, he fell way short.

They're better coached and just plain better. They have a lot more talent top to bottom.

Yep. And The Caps are so hung up on how the Candy Canes are playing they forgot how to play their own style that got them in the big dance, in the first place. Good goaltending, big bodies winning battles, and a defense that was able to quickly transition and join the offense.
Carolina is a more talented version of The Habs but The Caps have beaten this style before. The coaching has not been good enough. When any team goes through a bad spell or slump, you have to get back to basics and work hard to get out of it. The coaching hasn't done enough to get this roster's resiliency up to par and playing good team fundamentals in this series.

Everybody - including the hockey analysts on TV - always say the Caps are a big body "heavy" team. That is just not true. Other than Wilson and Duhaime, we have zero big guys that actually hit. Four of our biggest guys are Carlson, PLD, Protas and Raddysh. None of them hit at all - not a bit. Then you have our undersized crowd - McMike, Mangiopani, Sandin, and Leonard that get tossed around on a regular basis.
I'm tired of people saying how hard we are to play against, because we are generally very soft, which is why other teams can just continue to cycle in our zone. Other than Willy and an occasional Ovi, other teams skate through the ice with no fear.
We have to transition to more size, but size that is actually used.

Agree 100%. Being big on paper is meaningless if it doesn't translate to the ice. We desperately need to get a couple of big, physical and MOBILE defenseman for next year. Sandin and TVR have to go at a minimum. Carlson should retire. We can only hope. We also need to get some bigger guys up front and guys who can generate some offense from the 3rd and 4th lines. Right now, those lines are utterly useless. As long as we're talking forwards, I'd be willing to part with anyone except Wilson, Strome and Protas. Of course, Ovie will be here. Any of the rest should be trade or cut material. Eller, Mangiapane and Raddysh should top the list but none of the others should be guaranteed anything. I thought McMichael was particularly weak and ineffective in these playoffs.

As I was trying to say, I agree 100%. This team desperately needs a couple of big, physical and mobile defensemen. Sandin and TVR should go and, hopefully, Carlson will retire soon. Up front, aside from Wilson, Ovie, Strome and Protas, everybody else should be expendable. I think McMichael has been particularly weak and ineffective in this series. On the size issue, it doesn't matter how big you are on paper if it doesn't translate to the ice or if you are too slow, which the Caps emphatically are.
