Alexeyev smiles and says "it's playoff hockey" ;D .
He lost 3 teeth up top and chipped some on the bottom
-
Right now it looks like same lines as game 1. Protas is still a question. And Montreal has made a comment about maybe playing Xhekaj, their “enforcer”.

Morning

Evenin Lil
Did I see Frank dressed? Who's sitting? Raddish or Leno?
Never mind. Guess it was my imagination.

It’s not uncommon for a guy to take the warmup skate even though he’s a scratch for the night. I’d see it a lot when at the arena.
-
that should be two penalties
-
what the puck is 2:00 for receiving
PP time
-
What in the hell is the penalty on Wilson for?
-
Habs kiddies trying to make out they're tough. They're just annoying.

official scoring says unsportsmanlike conduct
these zebras must be on acid

it's because he's Willy. We all know it. They all know it It's nothing new.
-
Expect more of the same.
-
scoreless after one
-
An okay first, in spite of Dylan. ::) Ovi looks up for it. ;)
-
Decent period after a sleepy start. Need to grind one past this dude.
-
Mind boggling how they could call Unsportsmanlike on Willy - I guess you can't skate up to a guy and then get cross-checked.
Need more physicality and less Carlson!!!

Especially since they blew several calls they should’ve made against Anderson in the first game …… giving him any benefit of the doubt is unbelievably generous on the refs part.

nother PK . .

Caps up 2-1 after two
-
A good second period. Gonna need to hammer it home in the third and not let up like last game.
-
Much better period! Need to finish strong! Fucking refs owe us about 3 PP's. :raised-eyebrow:
-
I don't normally complain about the refs, but it is becoming clear to me that the Caps are fighting an uphill battle. I think the NHL would love to see the Canadians advance. Now that Ovi has the record, they are ok with sacrificing the Caps to get more Canadian teams as far as they can this year.
I don't know how they could not call the trip on McMike. The ref was 10 feet away looking right at it!
They never showed the cross-checking on Roy, but if they called him for that little stick check when Anderson faked being hurt - that is crazy.

I will say, these refs have been ATROCIOUS.
I think it was either dowd or dubois' stick in the offensive zone for 5 min and never picked up/removed from action... However i think it was matt Roy's stick in the d zone (mtl attacking zone) was removed as soon as the puck was cleared from the area.

I'm gonna bet the Kelly is Canadian...... Probably ticked that Ovi broke Wayne's record.

We could do with some action from our bottom 6..
-
Logan is keeping us in as much as our shooters are not capitalizing on great chances!
-
The Caps can't connect a pass to save their life right now. They have to play better for Logan because he's been playing next level for them this entire period.😢

Up yours Kelly! :raspberry:
-
Sweet dreams my luvverlies.
-
Caps Caps baby!!!!!
-
Lucky to win that one. We HAVE to start playing aggressive with the lead. C'mon Carbs - do some of that good coaching stuff.
Thought Beauvy played a great game and the Dowd line was really good.
-
Up yours Kelly! :raspberry:
And then UP again!!
-
That goaltending is what's been the difference down the stretch. Thompson absolutely broke their heart tonight! It still baffles me how the 8 seed can just dominate our zone, but whatever. Our D has sucked all year tbh.
Game 3 Friday 7pm!

One big improvement for me this game was the physicality. Good, solid, CLEAN hits and lots of 'em! From start to finish. Took the sass right out of the kiddies. :uh-huh:
-
However else things are going, I think we can agree that Beauvillier has been a terrific pickup.
I wonder how far Protas is from returning? If/when he does, for all the offense he provided this season, he is also a very responsible defensive player. He could really be a help in buttoning down the defensive zone, especially late in games.
For all the angst about how Thompson had to save the day in the 3rd period a few times, realize that it was Montreal that had the breakdowns and the Caps with almost all the quality chances through the first two periods. Games have ebbs and flows. One team ISN'T going to dominate throughout - that's not generally how it works.
-
I agree with BlackIce - the Caps controlled or had the offensive push for most of both the first two games. Montemboult has been outstanding. If he wasn't rock solid the Caps would have been up by 3 goals early in both games.
Montembault was the 2nd star of the game by the way.
So glad we got Thompson back. Lindy carried his share this season, but Thompson gives us better chance at playoff success IMO.
Games have been close nailbiters but most of that has been the goalies playing well.
Very much unlike the LA/Edmonton series. FFS neither of those teams can rely on the goalie. I cannot believe Edmonton has not gone after a goalie over the last 3-4 seasons....they have been bumped from playoffs every year at least partly because of their goaltending. I know its not all the goalie when you let in 12 goals in 2 games, but DAMN....12 goals in 2 games....
-
I thought Leonard had decent game. He has generated some opportunities.
So...when Big Pro comes back - who do you sit?
Beavy has been excellent, so that leaves Raddysh or Leonard.... Leonard provides more (at least hope) of scoring, but Raddysh big body is better on the 4th line. Moving Lenny to L4 would just be a waste
